ExiledGeordie
Have to sign a RW in Jan for me, someone who can create and score goals to help spread the play and create space more particularly as we don’t play with a 10. We also need goals ffs
Jewel
I’m tired of players who are athletes first and foremost, with the stamina of a horse, and can run and press all day long. For once, I would like to see us sign a maverick. Someone with a bit of flair and trickery.

I’m relaxed about the Isak situation. He’s superb, obviously, but if we do sell him it’ll be for a kings ransom and the entire amount will be reinvested back in to the team so I’m easy either way. Dr.Spaceman
He's going to be the most difficult player to replace, but £115 million would be an incredible starting point for a rebuild. Add on a few extra sales / releases and you're laughing. It would be good to see us then be aggressive, going after one or two elites before then hoovering up some squad filler talent like Rowe, Gilmour, Latte Lath, Guehi, Whittaker, Trafford etc all players who would walk improve our matchday squad without costing hundreds of billions. Is our squad that bad whereby we need players who are worst than our starters to come in? I'm not sure about this approach personally. We should be investing in the starting 11 where possible and the existing players can become rotational players/sold and refreshed with younger talent. Isak you just don’t try and replace like for like. He’s a silky tall man, just a rawness of player with top end ability you don’t see often. Better off taking a different direction with the striker, then subsequent build up around them if the worse was to happy and he goes. Like Delap at £40m would be the striker for me. Different style, more physical, so can look to get a wide man that thrives more off that type of striker. Hopefully not needed though, and Isak here till end of decade. Good luck improving on Isak, Bruno, Tonali & Botman when your league position is going backwards. We're also never upgrading Tino, Hall, Gordon or Joelinton. Rowe and Whittaker are both better than Murphy and Miggy.
ExiledGeordie
The Isak situation has an inevitability about it for me, eventually champions league clubs will come in for him. As others have said if we get a massive sum for him and re invest then so be it. I don’t want him to go but that’s the reality of it I think. Hopefully European qualifying can stave that off. Plenty of headroom.

Pretty much all of those shouldn’t be playing already TBH. Only Schar and Pope should be starters, and even Schar is probably one window away from replacement. Bit harsh to put Barnes in there. I like him and rate him but his limitations are quite obvious and you need to tailor your system to cover for them. We probably need to upgrade both Schar and Pope next season if we want to push for CL. time waits for no man.

No, but what I mean is, you’re saying Barnes is a squad player but you want a better squad player than him? He’s probably one of the best forwards in the league who isn’t playing regularly. I agree about Schar and Pope, sure that’s already in the plans. Guehi and Botman could be our CBs come February.

Barnes is serviceable as a squad player that is a good point. If he's content with that role I've got no objections. Guehi is good and I like him but id prefer someone is who more actually dominant as we might be a bit exposed defending set pieces having him. Fee has to come way down too. Problem is, the game is stacked against us. The only way to keep genuine world class players is to become a world class team. We are prevented from doing this by rules specifically designed to stop us building one. The only way to get on the ladder is....to sell our world class players. It’s literally the perfect set up for the top six to keep the status quo.
