NUFC Transfer Rumours

Not the first time he has been linked with us. He would be perfect but I will post this quote from him again:

Quote

Bakayoko has a contract with PSV until the summer of 2026 and told Voetbal International that he will only leave the club for someone who is fighting for titles.

He said, “I look carefully at where I am now and what I want to achieve. I want to go to a club that can get as far as possible in the Champions League, a club that plays for the title every season. And where I can improve every year. I rule out a lot of clubs. My ambitions are high and not with clubs in the middle. I am doing well here, so I will only swap PSV for a club that plays for trophies.”

So he's linking us with someone in January, we ourselves think we've got no chance of getting in January?

Sounds great!

Recalled reading this over summer. Are we planning on changing his mind somehow?

All very well giving it the big un like that until none of these ‘Champion’ teams come in for you, and you realise that one of the ‘middle’ teams will double or treble your wages…

Never really concern myself with if a player wants to come or not. We will only bid for a player once we know they went to come. Everything is pretty much agreed between a player and the buying club now, before a fee is even agreed.

Elanga would be a shocking signing. Surely we’ve seen enough of him now (when he actually gets some minutes) to know that his end product is generally poor, that’s he’s not a natural goal scorer and whilst he’s very quick he’s got nowt else. He’s not progressed at all from his Man U time.

I’ll be genuinely worried if this is a goer.

Odd, since PSV tend to be in champions league more often than not

There must be some strong underlying stats to Elanga to keep us interested?

And at his age, something the club can see extracting more out of. I wouldn’t be against Elanga, but that would be in a position of us being able to spend on a few players. Him being the only ‘named’ signing would be proper underwhelming.

Yeah I just don’t see it working with Barnes and Gordon here, it was an odd signing from the off. Might as well sell Barnes to bring a RW in.

Exactly this. Optimistic signing at the expense of buying an actual RW that would have brought us balance. Barnes is really a luxury we can't afford even if he is our best finisher after Isak and probably Wilson. Gordon should still start ahead of him.

He’s quick and has Premier League experience, beyond that I’d love to know what underlying stats are keeping us interested.

This would be a signing to appease Howe and I’d be seriously worried about Mitchell being the right man if he signed it off.

Paqueta had a better resumé and he only ended up a WHam.

Very impressed with Bakayoko on the basis of a You tube scouting. Then I come on here. It looks like a non-starter, at the moment.

He seems to have a very high opinion of himself too, which may not go down well in the dressing room.

I don't think Mitchell will be chasing any future signings to appease Howe.
