NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

Id take DCL on a free if his wages were reasonable. Howe would have his work cut out though but we've seen how proper coaching can improve a player. He's a poor finisher like. Not scored since September.

The Everton Da's hate him like. Not sure if it's his footballing ability or him prancing about with handbags that irks them more though.

any concrete links with DCL or is this just idle speculation?

I wouldn't mind him as a back up akin to Chris Wood

his confidence must be in tatters after failing to score for so long

but if he can get his confidence back he could be a v useful player

I’ve said before I like DCL. Mainly because he would offer us a versatility that we don’t currently have in our attacking play. Perhaps more from a defensive side when defending a lead a looking for an ‘out’ ball by just knocking it for someone to hold up. Obviously his aerial ability is a major strength too.

No question his confidence in front of goal is absolutely shot at present though and would need some rebuilding. He’s been well and truly ‘Evertoned’ at this point. In near enough the best part of the last 20 seasons, I think there’s only him and Lukaku managed 15+ PL goals in a season for them.

Also good to see others pointing out him being a ‘crock’ is a myth.

This is total bollocks - he's had a few lengthy injuries but isn't a permacrock like Wilson.  Whether he's good enough is up for debate

Are you insane? the mans nearly 28 hardly a great goal scoring record , I'd rather go for youth who could be here for years then him

It’s not insane to point out his injury record is actually OK, very good in recent times, if someone’s saying he’s a crock.

I'm not suggesting I want to sign him, just pointing out that his injury record isn't comparable to Wilson's.

We have that though in Osula.

DCL being added too means you also have a striker with plenty of PL experience, one you know won't be out of his depth starting a run of games should Isak get injured. Osula is still very raw, I'm not sure he'll be ready any time soon.

I can't say DCL has ever particularly excited me but I reckon he'd be a very solid second choice CF who would also add something different to the team in having a target man who is a physical presence and is good in the air.

Would be useful trying to break down teams who put men behind the ball and give us back that element we had two seasons ago where we'd put Wilson and Isak on together late in games.

Seriously what do people like about DCL? He's 27 (so technically should be in his prime) and his goal scoring record is average at best.  Been woeful this season.

Have always been fine with the DCL link. He's not a big goalscorer but A, you don't have to be a 1 in 2 striker to be useful and B, the team he plays in are absolute dirt. It's important to have competent backup to Isak, with Osula the wild card who might turn class in an instant, or might happily play third fiddle whilst he develops.

If we can be thrifty in upgrading the depth positions, it means we can focus our investment on upgrading first team positions.

I don't mind DCL at all, he's different to both Isak and Osula and has a lot of experience. His injury record is nowhere near as bad as some are making out. We can't continue with just Isak and Osula, and we're not signing another exceptional player to come in as backup.

I agree - but that ain't DCL.  Would rather give Osula a run than spend a penny on DCL.

Longstaff is going to be sold either in Jan or in summer - pure profit there of 15-20m.

Almiron - 10m

Perhaps Lascelles, Kelly, Targett, Krafth, Trippier, Wilson too. Whole load of wages free up, even if not a huge amount of actual fees.

If you think about the Guehi money, and what we have to replace - we need to spend £100m minimum UNLESS we get cleverer with free transfers - look at Villa with Kamara - and also with younger foreign players like Minteh.

They don't always work - e.g for every Minteh there's a Kuol or Ashby but we have to box clever.

I'd look to get:

Kyle Walker Peters - 7m (or free in summer) - covers both Trippier AND Targett - no brainer

Dibling - 35-40m - the RW version of Hall/Tino  OR Mbuemo - 55m

RCB - Tapsoba - 35m (or Jonathon Tah, free)

Jonathon David - Free
Angel Gomes - Free

Roony Bardhaji - Free

There's a lot of quality becoming available - pay more on the wages if required if it means we can spend the majority on

That kind of rehauling would destroy the first team in my opinion.

Many of the "free" player u mentioned aren't that superior but would come with a far bigger wage & some of them are so young that need time to be more than an impact sub.

Almiron - 10m

Perhaps Lascelles[keep, if Schär don't renew, the ball is on his court], Kelly[keeping, other than getting 15/20 mil], Targett[better than walker-peters], Krafth [have to kept, very cheap 3rd choice reliable cover to RCB/RB], Trippier, Wilson too. Whole load of wages free up, even if not a huge amount of actual fees.

I'd look to get:

Kyle Walker Peters[in bad side of 20s, spurs reject, about to relegate as a senior player]- 7m (or free in summer) - covers both Trippier AND Targett - no brainer

Dibling - 35-40m - the RW version of Hall/Tino  OR Mbuemo - 55m[ship sailed, with this form he would be moving with 70m minimum]

RCB - Tapsoba - 35m (or Jonathon Tah, free)

[*We would return for Guehi I guess if we follow buy on dip policy, Scalvini crooked by ACL too could be a good prospect]

Jonathon David[no one seems to buy him, unless it's his wage demand & if we get Europe, should be easy]- Free
Angel Gomes[in very high demand, wage would be Kamara type high]- Free

Roony Bhardhaji[market gone, can be very economical]- Free

There's a lot of quality becoming available - pay more on the wages if required if it means we can spend the majority on

^^ shouldn't be the opposite? Wage is the one aspect club should be very aware, high wages cost leicester last time & a reason they still go through PSR scare.
