Popes not ideal for kicking but his shot stopping, ability from corners etc is right up there. Other priorities for me in right wing, defence and maybe cover for our midfield 3 and up front. I could see why they would go for Calvert-lewin for a few seasons, he's played more than Wilson this year and scored more albeit only 3 goals but good in the air so offers something. If we also had Mbuemo with Gordon/Barnes other side still goals there.

Playing probably 48-50 games, do you think he would get through that with no injury again? Two seasons in a row he’s picked something up, and he’s had surgery on both shoulders now. 
 

There’s enough question marks there to consider it a priority position. Isak to Osula and Pope to Dubravka. 
 

It’s that type of drop off we need to reduce.

The Pope to Dubravka drop off was a lot smaller this season compared to last, so I think that's a sign that a new keeper is a top priority.

It would be very disappointing if we didn’t sign at least one player early on. We’ve had yonks to put together a list, suss out player demands, contact agents etc. A lot of the work will surely have been done. If we aren’t moving to sign anyone until July that would raise some concerns for me.

I took his early as before the start of the season as opposed to letting it completely drag.

Players are on holiday. A lot won't want to rush into what is a big decision on there next move. You can't do all the prep work in the world but you can't force someone into signing. Players will want to weigh up their options.

Thought he meant early so they could be integrated into the squad at the earliest opportunity.
