The tone of these journos who will all casually go 'yeah, Newcastle are interested in X' after someone else reports on it, like they knew about it all along but just didn't report on it because they didn't think it was important or because they were far too fucking busy being laid back and cool as fuck is so grating like.  
 

I'll sort of stick up for journos in the sense that everyone always jumps on them when they have nothing or are doing a 'non update' or whatever because I don't think it's that big a deal, but when they keep giving you nothing then imply they knew everything after the fact that someone else broke it just to save their ego it does my head in.

We've had good success on fairly priced PL players like Barnes, Burn, Pope - those deals are hard to land at decent prices. Not players big clubs would've been after in any situation maybe Barnes the exception actually.

At some point we are going to have to pull the trigger. We can't just stand around, with our dick in our hands, for yet another window, waiting for the perfect risk-free transfer to fall into our laps.

 

We want Premier League ready signings, well those come at a huge premium. Cheaper signings from abroad? Well, those are not Premier League ready and may end up not adapting to the league at all. 

 

Every signing for us will have risk attached to it. Eventually, we are going to have to take some calculated gambles.

Taking a risk in terms on injury recovery at CB is quite shrewd given Burn and Schar have came off good seasons, Botman should be ready and Lascelles available for emergency cover.

 

If this guy comes in and has perfect fitness it’s a steal, and if he’s a crock, well another CB is already needed next summer anyway and that purchases becomes a starter.

 

Unlike at ST, RW and arguably CM if this transfer bombs it can be managed
