The Daily Mail are reporting that they won't pay over £50 million. And relax.

I believe you, but I don't believe you. Good to know he'll be staying with us for years to come.

I'm pretty relaxed about it tbh. We have no reason to sell, unless he really pushes for the move, in which case we'll ask for a daft amount of money.

I could be in for a surprise but I think he's very happy here. I don't think he'd reject a move if we wanted to take the money obviously, but I think he knows he's on to a good thing here. Just have to hear him after we won the cup.

It probably could be a good business decision, but it would go against everything football's about for me.

I'm not even sure I'd start him if we had him, Trippier, and Hall all fully fit at the same time, but he's going to be one of the best FBs in world football for a long time to come.

Once he settles down a bit in the final third. He’s going to be the complete full back and certainly one of the best in the world. Not many get any change out of him 1 v 1. Especially when he plays on the left.

He’s rapid like, don’t think anyone’s really beaten him for pace when trying to dribble him this season and he’s only been tricked a handful of times too, his positioning is fantastic defensively 1 v 1. A brilliant defensive FB with excellent attributes going forward that will only get better

If I was one of the Sky 6, I'd be trying to unsettle our players like this/push up our wage bill, even if I had no intention of matching NUFC's/market valuation of the players.

Might be one of their last chances to succeed at it too

So we've taken a huge punt on him considering he had an ACL and paid a fee of up to £40M, and they want to pay £50M?

Right..

The media never even bother checking what we paid for someone who is being linked to other clubs. They don't care.[emoji38]

£50m would be a joke, deffo a load of crap. Bought for £32m, 3 years left so £19.2m left

You can't buy a player even half as talented as him for £30m

Where is the 50m coming from? Given we paid a lot for him and his standing is a lot higher now, 70m is a minimum.

Howe said the club would only sit down at the table for any bids of 50m at the lowest.

Duplicity like this is why I've always got my eye on you.

This is how we grow as a club. Hard to stomach but it's the stark reality.

We have to grow our overall squad value by buying low and selling high.

You can't just keep adding top quality players every summer, that's not how it works unless you're Real Madrid with few exceptions.

If he goes for a decent fee, job done, we reinvest with hopefully money to get 2 future Tinos. If he stays, we reap the rewards of a player with huge potential and his value is only going to go up you'd think.

It's not an exact science and it won't always work, but it's pretty much the only way we can catch up.

No emotion either way on this one, I don't think we're going to be taken for mugs, the sale of Kelly has given me confidence in how we're going to manage the departures and the business side of transfers going forwards.

The only reason we are talking about this is because supposedly City like him. I'm sure they do, but that doesn't mean he wants to go, or that we will agree to sell him unless it's for outrageous money.

Isak the best/worst example of this. Early on. Fans and the media were making out like £70-80m would be enough

Disagree personally, we’ve already progressed without selling our best players. We’ve gone from relegation threatened to CL and we’re about 48 hours away from potential CL football again. We’re going to have a quality amount of money to spend this summer window. There’s absolutely no need for us to sell from a “progressing as a club” perspective. The idea that we could use this money to find two Tino’s is extremely fanciful. We could easily spend it all and end up further behind where we are now

According to various sources we had quite a bit of money to spend this summer. Especially if we get CL we won't sell players like him unless a very high bid comes in. We don't need to, and there's a lot of value in having quality players who already knows the system and the teammates. That by itself makes up for a price tag that just about no club will meet (and that's before the young and english tax).
