We looked far more of a threat with Hall and Barnes linking up. Barnes actually releases it to Hall and would sometimes look to shift the ball quickly. I thought they linked up well. To be where we hoped to be - two quality players in most positions is what you ideally need. But we can't be where we hoped to be, that much is becoming clear. Barnes should be starting at the moment, he’s actually in decent form. Won’t be great for others to see if you perform, it doesn’t mean you’re in the team. If Gordon plays wells like he did today, he adds much more to the team than just goals and assists, his influence to our game is far greater if he in form IMO. We all know we’re a much better side with Gordon on the left. It’s a tough one because Barnes is so good at what he’s good at but he’s poor at everything else. He’s not a bench player and assuming you could recoup around £30 mil it would free up some much needed funds. Suppose the question would be could anyone afford him.
