Because for the amount we'd get for Elanga, we'd actually probably have less to spend after selling him under SCR rules.

His book value is 44 million now. If we could get 30-35 I would sell and take the loss. He that fucking bad he is a waste of a squad place.

Has to go down as the most underrated player in my time supporting the club. The numbers he puts up are fantastic and there are still plenty who think he's been a failure of a signing, which I can't wrap my head around at all.

He’s a very, very valuable squad player. It’s an asset to have someone who has a habit of scoring goals.

However I do see him a bit like Nolan in the sense that if he doesn’t score he’s not really doing much else. If we could get £40m + we’d be daft not to sell, but I could argue the other way too. It would be a tough decision.

I disagree he actually is our most technical winger he looks to link play with woltemade and Ramsey.

But has had a rough deal with eddie and selection.

I wouldn’t want to sell him, but if the club feels that with the money we can get someone younger who’s just as good, then go for it.

We paid 55 for elanga and about the same for wissa, why would we sell a proven premier league midfielder Who chips in 10+ goals a season for 38m...

Good sellers... FFS

Our wingers are a low bar tbf

He’s a funny one though, as I said he’s got a knack of scoring goals (important ones too) but he doesn’t really ever beat a man in the way you’d want a winger to. I’d edge towards keeping him like, unless it was stupid money.

Because the club probably feel like with £38m we can get someone in from Europe who is younger and has a higher potential ceiling.

If we are selling Gordon, then we probably have a list of about 6-10 players, now we can pick 2 of them.

28 yrs old, in his prime. Honestly, I can't see the logic.

If Gordon was staying, I could definitely see it. Make a bit of profit or get money back on someone with maybe only 2-3 years left at the top level. Really don't fancy us spending a summer trying to buy two LWs though.

Suppose we sold Barnes and got someone in from Europe, younger with potential of a higher ceiling.

Almost all of the younger signings we've made under Howe have taken time to settle in and spent 6-12 months on the bench barely featuring whilst they get up to speed with the style and system.

Who's going to play and score the goals whilst that happens?

We're quite goal shy in open play as it is at the moment, Barnes accounts for about 20% of our open play goals in the season just gone (fag packet maths so may be a % or two out) - I'm stunned so many people are keen to sell.

If we had other wingers or strikers producing consistent outputs then I could understand it a lot more but I'd not want to sell him in this window, particularly not to Villa where he'd continue scoring 1 in 3 for the next two or three years. It would hurt us and strengthen a direct rival.

With Gordon pretty much 100% off, Tonali and Livramento likely off, Wissa and Elenga hopefully chucked into an incinerator (or just sent packing if that's too harsh), a need to upgrade two very mediocre keepers, yes, let's send one of our leading scorers packing as well! Yes yes, our new home kit looks like it belongs in the Championship, but I don't actually want to end up their next season.

I like him but not that much. We also need to bring the squad age down. Isn’t he 29? Not sure that fits.

Seems like it’d be mad to sell him, as others have said. It’s one thing to sell a good player to cash in but to do it when there’ll be so many other changes/underperformers seems a big risk that’s not worth it.

I don't mind if he stays. He offers something unique despite being extremely anonymous in many games, and seems to be content with being in and our of the side.

However, we need to become better sellers. If there's an eager buyer for Barnes, this summer after the season he's had, at his age, is the last time we'll be able to sell him for more than we bought him for.

He's lost his confidence because of the management, put in a new manager and he along with several other players will have a renaissance

Best ever season statistically and back in the England squad for the first time in six years. Please! Someone save poor Harvey from the evil Eddie Howe!
