Villa wanting Barnes as a player makes sense, not going to get rashford on permanent

But from an FFP sense, he will be 28 in December, not the ideal age to be giving out 5 year contracts, especially considering they're not doing well FFP wise

Take one of ours we take one of theirs? Amortisation still a thing isn't it? Might suit both clubs just feel we need Barnes for rotation whe in Europe but sell when you can may be the clubs motto going forward.

I think he might be dropped for Sunday.

It would be a strange decision considering his recent numbers and the fact he was our best left and right winger against Brighton.

It would be harsh, I just feel like Gordon will start and Howe will feel Barnes is a good option off the bench if we need a goal.

I can see the bench option angle. But since the cup final. He has consistently been one of our best players.

If Gordon is going to start and I also think he might. Then I think it should be for Murphy, not Barnes.

Ideally, both Barnes and Gordon need to spend the off season improving their game on the right wing. It's in their best interests, as whoever is not in form on the left will get a chances on the right (if we don't sign a purple RW).

He'd be a good fit for Villa but if they sign Rashford permanently, he'd be back in the same position he's in here. If he's their alternative to signing Rashford, it would make a lot of sense. Still not sure we should sell him though

I love him, he's been quality recently, but by fuck was he off it today. It wasn't from want of trying, but literally everything he tried didn't come off

He got in good positions today but just had a massive off day with his touch, final ball, passing, basically everything.

Reckon he'll be on the bench at Arsenal.

Gordon did do anything to warrant taking his starting place unfortunately. Neither are firing at the moment

The way Barnes has been from West Ham away onwards. It’s mad how bad he was today.

Even if he was just playing an average game. He would have had a few goal involvements. Just constantly made the wrong decision or had a shit touch/played a shit pass.

He’ll come back from this. He was still finding some great positions in that inside channel again and is still really direct and purposeful with his play.
