Until quite recently I still thought Livramento had a a higher ceiling but I’m not so sure now. He got real class.

Livra has stalled a bit I feel.. Hope he will get back to business.

He will have Trippier-esque progressive passing numbers by the end of the season and better carries to. So glad to see him defensively well today - was a good match up for B Silva.

Played well but you’d expect so against Bernardo or similar. It’s people who run in behind or have a bit of pace and are direct he struggles against.

Not sure about this. Pocketed Savinho when he tried to take him on. Needs time to get comfortable in the starting XI now.

Fortunately he’s not physically limited so with time and development on his mental side of the game he could iron a lot of those struggles out, he’ll get better at it.

It’s just practise and game time. As he and others have said he’s a relatively late convert to FB so I’d be amazed if he didn’t keep getting better.

Doesn’t help when you’re on the bench

He certainly isn't on Howes list of players who can drop 10 stinkers in a row and still get picked. But playing Trippier over him looked okay today I'd say.

My favourite performance today overall. Added a lot to our game. Was thinking back to how he got withdrawn at half time against them in the league cup around this time of year last season.

It's very telling that Howe didn't sub him for Kelly. Would have been an easy switch but he was so good that Howe was happy with him.

Lost the ball a couple of times but only because he was brave enough to have it in the first place.

Can't be far off an England call up

Didn’t have a massive f**k up with the ball so that’s progress. Went missing once when Lewis pinged a great first time ball into the acres of space Hall had vacated. Would also like to see him a better at closing down crosses.

He’s getting better though. That’s very important. Some excellent passing. He’s got vision and the technique to execute.

I was terrified of him in the team today because I’m not sure he’s ever played a game at LB without at least one or two disastrous moments where he’s caught out.

He was outstanding today and I love that we had him on corners. There will likely be more growing pains, but I’m a lot more confident now that he’s going to adapt and learn faster.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Hall is best as a LWB.

I think that's been further proven today.

I don't think he is comfortable in any other position at this level because of his lack of physicality and experience.

Once Botman is fit, I could see Burn as LCB covering him in a fluid back 5/midfield 5 with the ball and Tino moving into a similar position on the right with Schar doing similar. As RCB of a 3. Those back would be interchangeable too.

Glad to hear he's still growing. Another 3 inches taller would be a big help.

I think I have figured out Lewis Hall, and it is quite simple... Pace.

He was superb yesterday and played a 9/10 both attacking and defending. It made me think, how come his defending was so spot on when he had struggled at times in previous games? Both Bernard and savinho are not the fastest of wingers, they are both very skillfull but do not have pace to burn, Lewis is extremely good at defending but it is only when he is up against speedsters that he falters.

He will need to learn to give the speedier wingers a couple of yards distance and I can´t wait to see him counter that (a la trippier) with thoughtful defending, but that comes with experience.

Well done to the lad! i think he will only get better from now on in and if Eddie can improve his game nous against the speedier wingers we will have a top left back on our hands.

People need to remember he only turned 20 a few weeks ago. Most players his age are nowhere near putting in the level of  some of the performances he’s had thus far. Stop judging him like he’s a 27 year old in the prime of his career. He’s very good. He will be very very good. But he’s still learning.

Think yesterday was a missed opportunity to try Hall in midfield.  6, right sided 8 mirroring the Joes on the left or as a left sided 8 (less need to see that tbf).

He would’ve got lots of the ball with time. But also tested physically.

A positive of him not starting is that he’s almost certainly starting at the weekend.

Most of us knew in advance that the front 6 would struggle.  In fact that whole line up had 1 progressive passer and he’s at CB. Nobody else has the ability to break a line with a pass consistently.

IMO it was good that Bruno didn’t start. But we needed to see our best midfield options without him. Particularly with the passing.   At least one of Tonali or Hall should’ve started at 6 imo.
