Stottie
Not going to happen, but when one team has way more injuries than the other, could referees be a little bit stricter? If not, the team with the much better bench can just kick the other one off the park, knowing they have no fresh players to bring on.
Mikky
6 minutes ago, Coffee_Johnny said: We gifted them fuck all. We hung on with a limp-along first team squad. Took a lead, couldn’t impose ourselves and dug in. The collective effort was, once again, outstanding. The epitome being Gordon—our best chance as an outlet to get a second, and kill the game—playing on whilst obviously hurting, after receiving a clear red card tackle. Supremely proud of them all. We just couldn’t ride it out. Daft as it sounds, alongside how much possession Chelsea had, the number of bobbles, loose balls and throws which didn’t go our way just put me in the mindset that this isn’t going to be our day. We’re not getting the rub if the green. We will obliterate teams come the run in when we’re stronger in depth. Hope it starts in the FA Cup. That was Chelsea at full strength bar the 2 full backs - even then they had 2 internationals playing Find me a team that wouldn’t suffer when having Joelinton - Tonali - Anderson - Willock - Barnes - Murphy - Isak missing - Gordon injured - Miggy spent
Gallowgate Toon
Gutted about this knowing who is left in the competition. Just couldn't have an even slightly easier draw FFS.

Big Geordie
Just reading Football 365 this morning - they seem to be doing their best to push for Eddie to get the sack. Mind, they have been for a few months - touting Mourinho to get the job.

It is my fear that they won't be as patient as the fan base, however we are already ahead of schedule with European football so early after the takeover I don't see how that makes sense currently. Ginola14
so deflated this morning sometimes I think this club is cursed - it's the hope that kills you! I don't know how Chelsea do this shit season after season by pure luck - getting away with at least 2 reds last night and then relying on a gift from Trippier and penos. I remember the cup tie at SJP in 96 and ever since then they must the luckiest club in the world when it comes to cups. suppose it's better than losing like that to Liverpool in the final! more likely Chelsea play Boro and Fulham of course. black_n_white
Rest assured Chelsea will not beat Liverpool, or Fulham / West ham for that matter. They are a bang average team.
huss9
chelsea fuckers - injured our most important attacking threat, then injured our RB so we had to bring on an out of form low in confidence sub. but the journalists really have to press Howe on his continued reluctance to bring Lewis Hall on in place of an ageing Ritchie. whats happeneded between the manu cup game and now. really needs answering. Think we had 4 mins left. He's not the best to hold the ball up but a simple haaland technique of winning a corner would have been perfect. Really should have known better, from that angle to shoot too
J7
I thought it was pretty shit last night in all honesty. Seen quite a bit of poor us, but if you play like that and allow more and more pressure, you’re inviting a mistake. I think you have to make at least some attempt to retain the ball. Game management was poor and is too often away from home. How many leads have we thrown away now, even before the injury crisis? Don't want to be too critical given all of our problems, and generally I still think we’re over performing, but it’s so frustrating to see us throw games away after such good work. It's not just failing to win one game. All the effort of beating City, then pulling off an amazing win at Old Trafford, and then going toe-to-toe with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for 90 minutes, all rendered meaningless by one ridiculous last-minute brain-fart. We should have been looking forward to a semifinal against Boro and another trip to Wembley, but instead we're back to contemplating the injury list and wondering if Ashworth is going to jump ship. I was euphoric after the City and Man U games but in retrospect it might have been better psychologically and physically if we'd just lost to City as expected. Ginola14
the Old Trafford win this season was one of the highlights of my time watching NUFC for almost 30 years, typical they got rewarded with Stamford Bridge where our record is probably even worse in PL era

Would be good to know, but he’s not going to dig Hall or anybody out. If that’s what the issue is (lack of confidence in him).

Aiston
How the fuck are people blaming Almiron here He not going to the corner flag is not why we lost, he also had an 85% pass success rate...3rd best in the team. Yeah, he was dispossessed twice, 3x less than Wilson. Trippier's inability to control the ball in our own box under no pressure is why we lost. Is anyone saying it was his fault or just pointing out he should have taken it to the corner flag to see the game out? Which he should have.
