I know it’s the idea of making things ‘fairer’ but getting one of my dad’s mates’ season ticket for a game they couldn’t go to was my original route of going to games when I was a kid. That’s how I got proper into NUFC and if it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t be as obsessed with this club as I am, or asking for tickets for Forest and Everton away as much. Find it sad that other kids might not have that chance to do what I did with affordability and not getting the option of getting a ticket passed on as STH won’t want to with it scuppering their chances at a final ticket. After reading the links provided to the cup scheme FAQs and cup scheme T&Cs by nufc.com they seem to contradict one another. FAQs say cup tickets automatically added to season tickets but section 3.4/ 3.5 in the T&Cs say you will be emailed a ticket and can request to transfer/re-sell. Clear as mud. Newcastle are such a hot ticket you can see the direction which is more rules/Ts&Cs as many other clubs inc the Manchester pair have done. Even with the expansion of the stadium I don’t see an end to demand exceeding suplly, until or unless the price point is raised to a point where sufficient numbers say no. Assuming the new stadium happens the price hike will be eye watering. You see LA Lakers being sold to an investment group for $10 billion and you can see the trajectory the premier league is on. I don’t feel great about where football is heading circa 15 years down the line. I am convinced these final years at St James will be looked upon really fondly and we should enjoy them.
