 It's ridiculous. He was never gonna pull up any trees but apparently any signing that isn't immediately brilliant is IRREDEEMABLY CRAP.

Good luck to the lad. Feel like it worked out well for everyone.

I mean it's not like he's come from another country or league has he? Didn't really stand out in any way shape or form in his short time here for someone who's got experience playing in this country

It's nice to be able to profit on this but in the few times he's played I cannot recall a single instance of thinking he would add something to the first team. (regardless of him coming in on a free)

Good luck to him either way

He isn’t anywhere near as bad as some are making out. He was pretty ordinary and an alright squad filler but it seems like his performance against West Ham has completely swung people’s minds on him.

They'll be the same people who were insisting Anthony Elanga is shite all season, probably on the basis of watching one game a year ago.

And Howe’s as well tbf. Him putting Botman in for those 3 games in a week after a long lay off was very telling imo.

There’s that but also the fact Botman is leagues above Kelly.

Great sale. Covered the weakness in the squad of Botman and lascelles being long term injured but is nowhere near good enough to be in contention ahead of them. Also not good enough to get in at full back.

Surely this means there's at least one player incoming though ?

Stupid questions here..

£15m WITH add ons.... This means the fee we are banking is £15m, and not a lower base fee and including add ons, becoming £15m?

And since this is a loan with obligation, assuming this means we get the money in next year's financial year (otherwise they'd have bought him now?) so if doesn't help this year's FFP position?

Schar is 33, Burn is 32. Lascelles is leaving. I know people aren't a fan, but we're not signing a prem quality defender for £12-15M.

I don’t see it like that. We were clearly after a RCB as a starter in the summer. Botman is the starting LCB in the long term.

They’re on about extending Schar. So our starting CB’s would become our back ups for at least another season. We could then look to sign a younger, development type in the next window or two.

It’s good business for someone who barely plays and is a 4th choice CB and 2nd or 3rd choice LB. Especially if was on half decent money and we get almost pure profit from a PSR point of view.

I feel like he sometimes ambiguously words it like that cos he doesn't actually know. Let's hope its £15m base cos we probably could have got that from a PL club in the summer.

I think I read something a while back that the sale value adds straight away for the selling club. But is pushed back a bit for the buying club (once the deal becomes permanent). Likely got this wrong but I’m sure I saw it around the hall loan to buy transfer.

We need to start playing the game unfortunately. Flipping frees for £15m within 6 months is now just good (financial) practise, in the olden days of building squads then it would be seen as lunacy but with the regulations written the way they are then all bets are off. Nothing is too ridiculous, everyone is for sale at all times, everything is there to be monetised, young kids who have played their whole life at the team of countless generations are passed around like $10 whores. The evolution of the football team is now merely the sideshow to the accountancy grift now. Money has won

Lloyd Kelly going to Juve barely makes a ripple is this utter shitshow.
