About 10m too little. It's pure profit, but 12 to 15m for a player like him is peanuts

Ah fair enough. I agree but the fact we got him out of contract will certainly play it's part in our thoughts.

We've also been accused of being bad sellers. Also, I think the timing is key. We really could do with someone this window.

If we aren't signing someone this window, fuck it, keep him.

As usual its the devilish what ifs isn't it here that's hard to forecast. If this is BDB's swan song good season and he gets say an extra year or 2 contract and rapidly declines and if we get into Europe next season having a player to step in would be great we may miss a free like Kelly as go out and get someone is going to be 15/20/25 maybe even 30m so doesnt really help us as the fee may just about cover a replacement. Alternatively BDB continues to be a mainstay in the side or preferred backup eventually and Kelly in 2 years is 28 and no longer the young cheap centre back waiting to step in.

However right now we need the money clearly and need players in other positions the rumoured wages of the likes of Kelly and Targett are impacting our ability to offer the bumper pay rise to the likes to Isak. If its only 12m and its loan with a obligation to buy its not really helping us in the short term but the club keep saying its the long term gain so maybe its worth it.

Botman will surely start next season with Burn back up and a R CB to come in plus Schar. If it’s to fund more vital areas of the team I get the logic.

I’d imagine it won’t happen, but if we did sell him and Miggy I’m confident we would bring in a new signing.

Far more chance of us selling Kelly than Miggy just down to age.

If we've already banked that £11m for Miggy though, feel free to call me a misinformed twat.

I think thats the mini debate I am having in my head if by next season Botman is back and preferred choice and BDB is still a perfectly reasonable backup then Kelly will sit getting very little game time outside of another big injury however if this is BDB peak and his form drops off a cliff then 12m for Kelly may not seem like good business if it would cost more than that to bring in his replacement.

Obviously its hard as we need depth but the wages sitting there for the number of minutes Kelly is getting doesnt make sense right now based on the form of others keeping him out of the side.

You'd think he's the worst defender ever judging by some of the posters on here. The lads had a slow start but he's clearly got talent. Saying that though imagine the FFP nerds are having a full blown wank over this

Personally the idea of selling two squad players to fund a starting XI player (ideally a RW) makes sense. If that makes me a FFP nerd then I'm OK with that :dontknow:

I think Craig no Hope was basically saying in one of his youtube videos its likely to happen but the MLS season doesnt kick off until March/April? so no rush to get Almiron over to them to have a 2 month lay off.

I guess as usual Howe isn't saying yes or no when asked even directly just miggy is a good pro who is aware of the interest so your guess is as good as mine if its a certainty we selling him or not.

I watched a video from a Bournemouth fan channel when we signed him, they massively praised his quality and said he wouldn’t be far off the England picture if he kept his performances up. Can’t have helped he hasn’t played but if the money is on the table I’d sell him

If we can get £20-25m for Kelly and Almiron. Plus maybe a small fee for Dubravka. Assuming he does still want to go before the end of the season.

Then you would like to think that would give us some room to go out and get someone this window.

Lose 3 squad players to try and get a starting quality RW would be worth it.

Between Botman, Targett, Krafth and soon Lascelles being fit and Alex Murphy (hopefully) developing we certainly have cover for him. I like him for squad depth and given time I'm sure he'll be decent for us but if there is an offer over £15 million you'd have to take it. His value is perhaps a little higher but that's very subjective and to get above £20 million you'd need us to be reluctant sellers due to the impact on the team (which we clearly can't pretend to be) and for there to be a bit of competition for his signature which I don't see happening any time soon.

Lascelles I hope goes but even if he doesn't that's him, Kraft, Schar and BDB all coming to the end of their careers over 30 and currently getting yearly contract extensions to kick the issue down the road. Alex Murphy following a promising summer 2 years ago hasnt really gotten very far so far from certain he is going to develop into anything no idea from all the youth we have brought in recently if anything will come of it defensively.

I feel like in terms of CB we arent that far away from needing some proper investment despite Botman hopefully returning and playing well.
