He's a good player, who did very well at Bournemouth.

Unfortunately, he's down the pecking order here and we need to consider offers for our squad players.

At least the lads who buzz off writing players off won't be proven wrong on this occasion.

I think he’s a better centre back than a full back for sure.

I still haven’t seen anything to suggest he’s Juve level unless there’s some data to suggest he’s got something they’re lacking.

Or I guess he’s a young English cb out of favour and one good season for them and they’ll double their money.

I'm not sure he is a better CB than full back tbh. The West Ham game he didn't look comfortable in the position at all, reading of the game particularly aerially looked really poor.

Possibly a player that would suit a back three.

In the lead up to his free agency, he was linked with some Italian clubs.

Prem defenders have had a good time over there, and so are valued in that league.

Not looking bad signing him at all now. I liked him at Bournemouth, but with Botman back now and Burn still going so strong, there's room to allow him to leave.

Any sale will be pure profit, which is massive.

I know he had his critics for the West Ham performance, and other than that I haven't seen enough him to think he's worth keeping, or that he's going to be able to displace any of the 3 centre halves in front of him, and even as a left back think we have enough cover and potentially be better with a livra or tripps playing there instead.

Surely (as long as decent enough fee) moving him on would be a good PSR flip, considering he was free, regardless of also getting his wages off the bill, which may be higher than average given he was signed on a free?

I just worry that we'd need to buy another LCB not this summer but next, with Burns age, and at that point as well Schar will be 1/2 years older too so could mean a lot of transfer activity needed to give us 4 decent CB's.

Having said that, considering our FFP position, selling someone we got on a free for circa £15m who hasn't impressed in their cameos is good business

I'm torn on it

Botman is lcb. We dont need another, just another utility player like Krafth who can play any position across the back 4

I do think he'll ultimately settle down and become a very solid replacement for Burn as the versatile squad defender.

That said, if there's decent money to be made off selling him now it'd be foolish not to take it IMO.

I disagree, I think you need 4 good CB's if you want to go deep in Europe / the 2 domestic cups and not have a significant performance drop off

Having said that, Burn is doing excellent at the moment, I was talking about the year after next where I imagine Burn won't be enough for a team with CL ambitions, and thus we'd need an alternative to Botman

Yeah I agree, I'm saying for the season after next where Schar and Burn will be 1.5-2 years older

I know I know, we're not there yet etc... I'm just saying if we sell Kelly then we will probably need 2 more CB's in a couple years, on top of the RCB this summer

Having said that, maybe selling Kelly makes sense if it's a good fee

I love Schar and in particular his passing range and ability on the ball. I'm afraid though both he and Botman lack pace. You can get away with one not being the quickest but two is an issue. As Schar is the wrong side of 30 i'm afraid it's him who needs replacing. A quick decent right sided centre back is a must in the summer

Gonna go out on a limb here and say the story is absolute bollocks

This is where Paul Mitchell needs to be earning his money.

We should have one more year of Burn, so this summer bring in a youngster on the cheap that will have a year to bed in and take over from Burn as backup in 2026.

I was hoping we had that in Alex Murphy tbh but I've heard nowt about him all season in terms of what they make of his chances at the top level.

This is in addition to a RCB who will be ready to start immediately as Botman's long term partner, of course.

Given it's been reported by multiple reliable journalists, and Juve's sporting director previously wanted to sign him for Napoli, I'd say it's definitely not absolute bollocks.

Whether the fee is enough for us to sell or the player goes for it is another thing entirely.

Because they don't categorize players as 'shit' after a few games.
