But it is though. Dubravka is 35 and he's dropped off a cliff. How many number one keepers in the PL are older than that? Lloris got fucked off from Spurs in his mid 30s and had been shite for a couple of seasons before that. The days of your Shiltons and Buffons playing at the top level till they got to 40 are gone.

De Gea is 33 but no one seems to want him either, even on a free.

Peter Schmeichel was 32 when he denied us the title. I wish Ferguson had binned him off that previous summer.

If 32 is too old for a keeper, given how much later they start that outfield players, they've not much of a shelf life.

Hell yeah. Let’s get someone who’s ten years younger than our current keeper and is already at the same level so when we win the PL in three or four seasons he’ll be the right age to fit right in the median. ??

The last 10 years make that 29,3 years (median also 29). The 22 years before the average was 31,8 years with a median of 32,5 years.

So the point that goalkeepers are starting to be at their best at a younger age, stand. Though it may be a more indication of the age and quality of Ederson in this example [emoji38]

But I would say that even the eye test stand. Its more demanding to be a keeper and when they are 30+ they start to go decline. Pope need to be upgraded for sure. In all areas really (injury, footwork, age).

Lloris literally played as the spurs captain until he was 39.

You'll always get outliers (same as outfield players), but he was the 5th oldest first choice keeper in the league last season.

Look at the players who were willing to join us when most would have had us as certs to go down [emoji38]

Confident that missing out on Conference League will not affect our summer plans.

TBF he’s hardly going to say “see you lads”.

No course he isn’t but he’s went in heavy that he’s staying. He could have said nothing or left it at up all the way. “This is just the beginning lets go for more” is pretty definitive

Yeah and the club won’t want to get rid of him because he’s a ‘keeper’

You could also read it as let’s go for more (move to a bigger club in the epl and prove myself there!)

Bruno says this and we all say “he’s going nowhere lads “ someone else says it we say “he wants a move lads”

That statement really means nothing, players kiss the badge one minute and sign for another club the next. He could stay, he could go (and not necessarily to us), no point in worrying.
