Sorry but genuinely looks like we dodged a bullet.

We would be fuming if he played like that for us after a 40m move.

I stated he wasn't up to scratch but got pelters from the signing fetish crew

I've been really critical of the club on this one, but if Trafford did have the choice this summer and chose Man City then it's his own daft shite fault. He wasn't going to start here anyway, but he'd have got the time to bed in and improve behind the scenes here that he's less likely to get at Man City.

It was bizarre all round from Man City.

The only two explanations I could offer would be they thought if they bought him they’d be able to sell him for more (seems unlikely tbh) or they weren’t in for Donnarumma at the time of buying Trafford, but then he subsequently became available, so they went and got him as well.

It's a free option for them. They have a capable back up and a world class starter. Worst case is they sell him and break even in accounting terms.

Agreed, personally would look elsewhere tbh, he’s never impressed me that much.

I don't know how good he is, but my personal approach would be just to throw money at the best keeper we can find. Given keepers aren't rotated and don't get injured it doesn't make much sense to try and develop one.

But now they’ve got an unhappy player on their hands who probably feels like he’s been royally shafted (unless he was told they were intending to buy another elite keeper).

Not great for morale.

I think that's over stated honestly, I mean look at Chelsea last season half the squad thrown in the bin yet still made money when they sold them a year later and still qualified for the champions League.

They've done him dirty but he's a fool who's done himself dirty as well, nobody forced him to sign for them.

Trafford has looked a little shakey and a bit of a flapper from the matches I've seen in the past. I'm not massively interested but we've seen how Eddie pursues players and likes to 'get his man', like Thiaw this year.

True. Although they had so many players they were literally able to bin off the surplus ones. Man City would still need Trafford if something happened to Donnarumma.

I’d love to know how the transfer was sold to him, alas, it doesn’t really matter now.

Was it established if he had the choice to join us or not? Don’t know whether to feel bad for him or laugh.

Aye, he could have chosen us. City basically had the right to match the offer Burnley accepted from us, giving him a choice of either us or them in the end. So, let's laugh at him

They probably told him he'd have the chance to compete for the starting spot and told him Emerson was likely off. I expect they didn't say so much about Donurumma. They have all the leverage so won't be arsed, if he wants to go the world cup he can't afford to sulk he has to push on and perform when given his chance.

No lose scenario for city.
