Fortunately he won’t have a massive workload here, I think Howe will know when and if to use him better than we will. The concern we all have are his hamstrings, the latest time being the by far the worst at 100 days of inactivity. Again though, as second or third choice and only used for selective games I feel that they think he can be managed. If they dont think they could get more out of him than they could Wilson then he won’t be signed.

I don’t think DCL will be able to stay fit, never mind under Eddie’s intense training. When was the last time DCL actually produced anything meaningful? Genuine question. Aye I remember him getting a decent amount of goals ages ago. Don’t remember him doing much in the last few years unless I’ve missed it. I don’t think we are looking at him and thinking we can bring a better season out of him than he’s ever had before, he’s strictly a cover/third choice striker who might get starts in early cup games at most. By next season you’d expect Osula to be ahead of him if the plan for Osula is to play centrally. Also Eddie won’t rinse this guy in training if he’s not capable, in fact he won’t be signed if the concern is that great that he cannot even train to a good standard - that’s a non starter conversation. They will know more than us. Theres no massive upside to a DCL type signing, but I get why they might think it’s worth doing for a couple of seasons. AyeDubbleYoo Posted Monday at 14:29 Share Posted Monday at 14:29 FWIW I think DCL may or may not be good. It's possible that Howe could get him firing and I think he'd be better than Wilson. But I just think there must be a better option out there.

OoOGazOoO Posted Monday at 14:42 Share Posted Monday at 14:42 Genuinely wouldn't like us even signing him on a free. Really don't rate him, his performance to goal ratio is poor and I don't think he's all that good.

Has shown in the past he can finish both feet and in the air. That’s almost as bad as the idea of signing DCL 😂
andycap Posted Monday at 14:52 Share Posted Monday at 14:52 He is a good player great in the air a real nuisance to mark. Still got some pace and his finishing isn't bad either. His injuries are his only downfall but so was Wilsons and we where happy to have him as backup until his body failed him. Just give the lad a chance before twisting on. Shak Posted Monday at 15:11 Share Posted Monday at 15:11 Injury issues and his lack of form the last couple of years are obviously a significant worry with DCL. I will say however that I very much see the merit in bringing in a big, physical striker who is good in the air. We know by now that we’re not much use at breaking down a low block and need a different option, something that a target man like DCL would definitely give us. I’d prefer someone else but Eddie apparently really rates this lad and he’s obviously earned the benefit of the doubt at this point.

KennyUtd Posted Monday at 15:16 Share Posted Monday at 15:16 I will bang my head a million fkn times against my steering wheel if we sign this egotistical clothes horse. I'd have Paul Kitson as he is now over this posturing bell end. Just to be clear like.

In terms of the quality of player and the notion of shopping in the bargain bin, I can see why you'd make that comparison. But the two key contextual differences are: we now operate in the club's best interests, and PSR. The likes of Joselu, Muto and Carroll were signed with other interests in mind and in a different financial environment.
