Skysports said around 5m at the time. I think Athletic said much higher. Probably something in the middle. I dont think we paid more for Vlach than they did for Anderson.

I think Dowie at the time said minimal fee then reports came out it was 20. Think they paid 8/12m for him despite him not being first choice by the end of the season if they doubled their money accountancy trick or not we got our bums spanked.

Transfermarkt & The Athletic are as good as you'll get for confirming fees imo. They have £20m.

 

You have to figure Forest where in a FFP hole too. So whatever fee we gave them needed to cover Vlad's remaining amortisation cost. Anderson would cost a fee within the accounting period (don't know if it's the full 1/5 or not). And the the actual FFP hole too.

My assumption is Guehi or Olise money would've had to have been offset by sales next June.

I assume any sale that is less than 20m for him would actually actively damage us for PSR reasons this season as it would come in at a loss?

 

As he signed a five year deal, it means we can only sell him at 16 million next season, and 12 million the year after. And that's only to break even.

 

He's going to be a millstone around our neck for years.

The player will be on silly money, as he’ll have had them over a barrel and probably wasn’t desperately keen to be a third choice keeper.

 

He will see out his 5 year deal, might get a couple of loans.

The problem is when you get under 24 hours from breaching FFP and getting a points deduction, you have no negotiating power. Forest obviously knew he was a dud and saw us as their ticket to get rid of him.

You can't imagine his spot at Greek No1 would be entirely safe by never playing.

Who knows what the case is but I actually suspect he'll happily move for the right deal. Sadly for us, to avoid booking a PSR loss that means finding someone to pay circa. £16m (assuming he's amortised some of his fee over the half season) to buy him. And if he doesn't fancy Saudi (which it sounds like he doesn't) then we are not getting that from anyone else. Which means he'll holdout for the next 6 months and then we'll likely have to loan him somewhere (probably covering a % of his wages) to cut our losses in a way that doesn't harm out PSR position too much. He'll be at Panathinaikos or back in Portugal in the Summer, it's just we'll have a problem on our hands for the next 2/3 years. But we made our PSR bed, and now we are lying in it.

Forest weren’t interested in giving us any of them though because they wanted Vladdy’s wages off the books.

 

The choice was we give you £35m for Anderson and you take Vladdy at whatever the price was, or we don’t give you £35m for Anderson.
