pretty optimistic about this move. we've obviously wanted him for a while, and still want him. it says a lot. he's young, and if he's hungry enough Eddie will make him twice the player he currently is.

WE'RE STILL FIGHTING FOR THIS TITLE

In our position we want to spread the cost over a longer period.

So this being 4 years instead of 5 makes it quite the bit more expensive. Self sabotage

You bought him at 24 with a 4-year contract, now he's 28 and we're taking him back for free.

come on mate. The irony  you are never done judging players and giving your assertions in your typical patronising tone

Your opinions on players never have any kind of reason or thought to back them up.

You just complain endlessly about how average or underwhelming they are. I think you just love bitching!

But that's fine. When the season starts we'll see how things play out and revisit all this certainty you have then.

Actually not true if we sell Isak this year we'll have a huge surplus so we want to front load, otherwise in three years when he drops off the maths we'll be in trouble.

It doesn't front load though, it just spreads the cost over a shorter period.

Could just be about avoiding longer-term financial commitments. Keep the initial base wage lower on a 4-year deal, and then if things go well, we can extend later with a pay bump. Gives us more control and keeps the wage structure flexible.

That's the same thing. Compared to a five year contract each of the first four years has a greater proportion of the purchase price. Assuming he signs another contract in two years we've paid off half rather than 40%.

I'm relatively optimistic about this one, given how long we've tracked him. With all due respect to our Milanese friend, who clearly knows the player well, the PL vs Serie A has very different requirements. If this player has the physical attributes needed (height, pace etc) i'd guess the rest can be coached and we have one of the best to do that. Staying positive.

oh no I’ll be so gutted if I’m wrong. I hope I’m wrong. I’m not so arrogant about my opinions as you

Yes I understand but we can do the same with a 5 year deal and extend later. Ah well it's a minor detail.

Not the star signing that I had in mind but I entirely trust the club and Eddie's ability to get the best out of players.

Its a shame hes not had a pre season with us.

He's definitely more suited to the Premiere than in Serie A. I'm sure he'll do well.

Actually pretty excited about this one.  He's got the physical profile and the tools to be really good, Eddie just needs to teach him how to use them properly.

Going for this kind of player rather than expensive, ready made hype machines will bring us better returns in the long run I reckon.
