He is like a young Drogba in terms of pace strength and agility the finishing will come eventually.

You don't sell raw quality like that in my opinion.

Porto were reported to value Samu at £80m and he's still largely unproven. That's why £30m is looking a bit of a steal for Osula right now. Frankfurt aren't daft, they have a history for buying undervalued strikers and selling them at a huge profit.

Unless he wants out, he is a now a keeper for me.  He's shown enough to give him more time.  Wissa and Wolt out for me and start again trying to find their replacements.

He's good, but not a replacement for Pope or Ramsdale like.

Would we? Then spend that much again to get someone we can use in his place?

Yes I’d be taking £30m for him. I can’t believe people wouldn’t tbf

I was really impressed by his finish against Crystal Palace, I don't think you can teach that kind of instinctive improvisation, composure can come with experience, that was innate goalscoring instinct..

100% agree. Typically strikes the ball well with both feet too and usually finds the target and draws a save at least, if he doesn't score.

I'm not concerned about his finishing ability at all. What he needs to work on is being more composed at times, like when he lashed at the shot when he was being closed down by Van Hecke after he lost his defender at the halfway line and was bearing down on goal.

Think that will come with more playing time and experience.

What does that get you now days? An Evan Guessand? Thierno Barry?

I wouldn't. If he hits a higher ceiling which he probably will, he'll be worth more than that to us.

Have to keep him next season and I would like to see him out on the right as others have said to give him more room to be eccentric.

He has scored against some decent teams this season as well which is encouraging - Liverpool, Man Utd, Brighton and Bournemouth. Different types of goals as well.

What is the main reason though? You think we can get a better second or thirst choose striker with his upside for that money?

With his attributes aswell. It'll be hard work.

It’s mad how much Tindall has to coach him off the ball during his time on the pitch, but I absolutely loved that first 45 from him yesterday. He was unplayable at times.

Well we signed him for £10m and £20m profit in actual money is a canny return for someone who’s scored a handful of goals for us.

We need to do more of that sort of thing to avoid situations like Anderson in the future.

I get he’s playing well at the minute but most of us were ready to drive him to Germany last summer when it looked like we could get £30m for him.

And on top of that we didn't expect both of our new strikers to have issues.

I don't see the point in selling him even for £20m profit. We sell him, then have to replace Wissa in a few years - what's the point?

You'll notice there's a distinct lack of names from people who talk about replacing him. Like fast, powerful strikers who can finish are ten a penny somehow.

I’ll be surprised if he’s able to consistently put in performances like the first 45 yesterday. But been proven wrong many, many times before in my 37 years on this planet.

I think he will have a decent career but that’s about it. But absolutely should be playing at the moment for us.

I was very impressed. Do think there’s a player there somewhere.

I agree with this, but the comparison I'd draw is with Ekitike. Osula's age and output are similar to Ekitike before he went to the Bundesliga.

Drogba was more of a unit.

If he got his head up with that one attack and squared it, we'd be talking about a pretty much perfect performance. Not bad for someone with hardly any PL games.

The little flick he did to keep that ball alive for the Willock chance was brilliant as well.

TBH right now I would keep him and Woltemade and try to make them into a sexy partnership.

Can’t knock his effort or production lately, but we’d be utterly insane to go into next season relying on him.

Drogba was more of a unit.

Although he was when he absolutely tore us apart for Marseille, he was 26 years old then. At Osula's age Drogba was playing for Le Mans in Ligue 2 and scoring fewer than 10 goals per season.

From Hope:

Newcastle are planning to keep Will Osula at the club beyond this summer, Confidential understands.

Interest in the 22-year-old has been extensive, at home and abroad, and he nearly joined Frankfurt in a £30million deal last August.

Given his current form – three goals in his last four starts in the Premier League – that interest will only intensify in the coming weeks. Aston Villa also had a deal agreed last summer, while Everton, Crystal Palace, Bayern Munich and Leverkusen have also checked on his situation.

However, Newcastle know that to sell Osula, even though he would likely command a fee north of £40m, would leave them with a problem in terms of a replacement.

As one source said: ‘We’d be looking to replace Will Osula with Will Osula!’ Staff have also been impressed by his recent impact and believe there is more improvement to come.

One issue that is likely to emerge is the value of the contracts being presented to Osula’s representatives by those interested clubs, and an expectation that he is rewarded with an improved deal should he remain on Tyneside.

But the Dane is two years into a five-year contract and, for now, we understand there are no plans from a club perspective to negotiate new terms.

Too me this shows that if howe had more trust in his young players they can blossom, he was wasted for a couple of years barely getting any time on the pitch.

the club themselves were thinking of flogging him because he never really got the chance to prove himself.
