Yeah, I appreciate that he has pace, good passing and ball carrying ability - something we desperately need in our back line. I'd like to see a fully fit Botman get a little more aggressive in his long passing, but his short passing is immense and he's definitely got nearly all of it in his locker. We all probably just need to accept there is no CB like Fab Schar in football, a total unicorn in his aggressive ball playing.

Two possible tactics here, early bid and early business, or let his agent know of the interest and wait until late August, so Palace have started to sweat

I actually think as a pool of CB’s, Guehi, Botman, Burn and Schar, would arguably be the best in the league. Well, maybe not quite the best, but certainly good enough to maintain a challenge right at the top end of the league.

Cb's are difficult to rate like that I find.

We give ours alot of protection most of the time through our midfield. But when you see them get exposed there are few worse than Burn and Schar and possibly Botman (post injury so hard to judge), when they are left 1v1 etc.

Whereas if an Akanji or VVD or Saliba etc are isolated they can hold their own most of the time. So whilst I appreciate our CB's for their individual qualities, I do feel they can also be a weakness if we ever open up too much and try to be more attacking.

What prompted the bump, anything specific or just the Torygraph article?

Just Baldwards article.

But you suspect there’ll be a fair few more articles coming until he signs for someone.

I think Geuhi and Botman would be fkn awesome like.

Burn & Schar v2.0 but even more improved. Not sure you could play our normal game with Guehi & Schar together, but Guehi with Botman or Burn would be immense.

Looking like no Europe for him.

Generational talents really need to be playing in Europe next season, dont you think Steve?

There's no way they won't be allowed in the competition. So many other clubs have similar multi ownership structures. They'll find some way to get round it.

Huh?

There was some scare stories about them, Lyon and Brøndby (not sure 100% on them) all having link to Texor and them being prevented due to that. I assume they’ll find a way round like Brighton and Union SG and RB Salzburg and Leipzig have in the past.

Yeah I have no faith in that happening. Standard selling scare stories stuff from the media, getting clicks from making it seem like a probable scenario by leaving out some relevant context.
