He's not wrong tbf with all the decisions Liverpool are getting. They'll find form at some point but they don't even need to play well if VAR is there. With that said, I can see Arsenal getting a helping hand this weekend. Hope I'm wrong.

Bit early to tell, but it feels like the projects from Villa and Forest are truly falling behind us now. Villa has been crippled a bit financially (with FFP) by having a massive wage bill, and Forest has turned to chaos lately. We have stability with a very good manager who is looking to stay for a good while, and should have some room to spend in future windows. Our wage structure is healthy aswell, and we have a few players who are worth quite a bit if we decide that we need to sell someone in the future. I think we have a much better chance of bouncing back next season if this one isn't all that great, but I have more doubts about Villa or Forest being able to bounce back if they don't turn it around this season.

I’m really not sure how much I feel sorry for Villa on FFP, their recruitment has been absolutely awful for the most part

The point is that the members of the cartel are not hurt by a series of poor signings while Villa are absolutely crippled. The league is bent.

Wouldn't write off Forest yet.

Villa will be fucked if Emery goes.

I don't think Forest have a good enough squad, but they had a manager who got the best out of the players. Ange isn't going to be that imo. If Ange fails, the feeling around the club will be far worse than it was, with the crazy owner having replaced a successful manager with a failure. It will be as if they are back to scratch. It will be difficult to find someone who can get that kind of momentum back again from that point, and it's not like they can spend much either.

If Ange somehow becomes a success, then sure, the feelgood factor amongst the players and fans will still be there.

Forest have yet to get remotely close to us, truth be told.

Yes, obviously they were (very) close to us in terms of league position last season, but the way they played felt unsustainable at that level.

I suspected bottom half for them this season, and obviously how things have started have only increased my belief in this.

They have to take some blame for that though , stop signing has beens/average players on big money

A lot of their players were not has beens though.

Also they needed a transition squad to take them from relegation battles, to competing before they could sign the players who would immediately get them there.

We're not paying particularly big money, and we're not signing has-beens. Unless I am overlooking people?

We made some questionable signings, yes, that's true, but it's not like we've been giving 32 year olds 3 year contracts like was the case 15 years ago.

People go on about Rashford and Asensio in the January window - when that window opened, we had done unexpectedly well in the CL but were showing signs of feeling the squad stretched.

It was brilliant business to get those two in, Asensio in particular played a big part in us getting to the QF of the CL. People forget that. Like they forget, when going on and on about how Arsenal deserved something from their defeat to PSG, that we actually beat them at home, and very nearly knocked them out.

We were never going to sign Rashford on a perm, as we were never going to commit to paying someone 300k a week for 4 years, but him and Asensio made a massive impact on where we were as a team.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't here.

One look at the current league table tells you all you need to know about the impact on clubs like you and us of the current financial rules. We're unable to spend money we don't have - despite not being a penny in debt - and have to watch other clubs seemingly spend whatever they want.

it's genuinely enough to make you want to give up.

You guys have basically been copying us but a year behind since Emery took over.

Last year we had a very unsettled summer, had to sell a homegrown talent to balance the books and struggled at the start of the year.

Then things started to click and we had a great year. Think you'll be fine, keep the faith.

Man U - Sunderland this weekend, a dilemma Never want Man U to win, Never ever want Sunderland to win. A draw it is then

There's no dilemma for me, Man Utd win, Sunderland lose (always the best outcome) and Amorim gets to keep his job that little bit longer, it's a win/win.

Why are noone talking about the price of Gyökeres? He's 4 years older than Wolte, cost £5m less, and doesn't look like he is doing that much outside of the goals. He has only scored against Leeds and Forest at home so far.  Yet I see way more talk about how much Newcastle paid for Wolte.
