Kanj
Our Plan B is more of that back 3 or 5 anyway which helped us topple Arsenal two times in a cup, Chelsea at home, notably and secure a trophy and CL football.

Just distorts the market as you end up comparing apples with pears.

kingxlnc
One thing about Elanga, he's very focused on personal development ands self-improvement, extremely hungry to be the best. That's probably what attracts Howe the most Joelinton, Gordon, Bruno, Isak, Tonali all seem to have this aspect in spades, Anderson did too Shelvey, Fraser and anyone not quite there were shown the door sharpish

Ragnick rated Elanga highly, and he did well for him. As much as there are calls for more control etc, I don't think Howe is looking at things the same way. Looks to me like he's trying to get the team to be even better at what they already do. Elanga would help achieve this. This is my take as well. Howe is very particular in the players he wants for his set up, and I tend to trust his judgement on this. He's not got much wrong when he pursues a player long term. Gordon, Livramento, Isak, Botman all spring to mind. Even Ekitike come to think of it, he never came off but now loads of top teams are trying to sign him. If we've been chasing Elanga's signature for over a year there's probably a lot of thought been put into it.

Yeah, his change of plan usually involves changing the formation and moving players into different positions and roles. But his underlying philosophy and approach is what it is, as is the case with most managers. Don't think he's looking to change that, which is seemingly what some people would prefer. PCW1983
I think the biggest shame in all of this is that we as fans have become so hung up about the price we pay for a player, it’s soul destroying. IMO, Elanga will absolutely improve the team, suits our style of play and has potential to get better too. The irony is that the football world has become obsessed with PSR and all the shite that comes with it….ive literally just finished a conversation with an Everton fan and it was pretty much the first thing he was able to talk about (their position). I hope we sign Elanga, couldn’t give a fuck how much for as I trust the club and Eddie enough to do the right thing…also, whatever the price is, it’ll be less…Forest are bullshitters of the highest order. Right or wrong, player has to fit into the manager’s style of play. Furthermore, the obsession over this low block thing is far more exaggerated in reality given how well we’ve played overall under Eddie’s entire tenure. The best sides impose their will consistently and supplement the team with quality players to execute the plan more efficiently and expertly. Again, as I said before I’d like to see us get an attacking technician but honestly prefer that more centrally to spread it across the attack.
