Elanga would be our 4th direct runner winger. It’s a variation on a single style. A style that usually works but often struggles against a low block defence that requires some guile and not pace and power to break. And we do like a British based player. Elanga isn’t particularly young like Tino or Hall so the excitement is capped. I don’t mind Elanga. He’s a good player. But I would be disappointed if we don’t sign some type of attacking baller in the window. I’m not expecting Cherki but give me Joao Pedro or someone. Elanga is 23. Tino will turn 23 this year. elanga’s output for the last two seasons has been good, especially considering his age. There are some good foreign options but I agree, Elanga seems lower risk than most.. AND is mates with Isak. Anyway, that's exactly the sort of discussion that I compiled my schizophrenic shortlist for: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZzMFGZEolVEY4AZFGc4JN02bvlHuPQrEcPjD3bXHahU/edit?usp=sharing

Kubo supposedly has a 50m release clause too.. I understand Eddie values athleticism and I'll support him FOREVER in ANYTHING but I just dream what he can do with a young player with godlike talent like ROONY BARDGHJI.. he's free ffs.. Would be great seeing him sign for Spurs or some other wankers. Can see the argument for Akliouche but Lee Kang-in is bobbins, man.
Thumbheed
11 minutes ago, ponsaelius said: Not sure. More technically gifted for sure and presses well enough to be a hit. Could also play midfield roles. Possibly higher ceiling. But I would say Elanga is faster and has a better output in a stronger league and would do a better job if we stuck him up tops. And they're the same age. Elanga definitely has more physical quality about him, but Akliouche has more up top from what I've seen. I'd always go for the intelligent players over the physically imposing players given the choice.

Last time I saw Elanga play up tops (admittedly in a two) he was electric, got 3 assists, and Forest won 7-0.

joeyt
Hardly over the hill at 23. He's got bags of experience for someone of that age I think there's some bias creeping in from some people because he used to play for Man Utd
black_n_white
Can’t see Forest selling for less than £50million?

I doubt it At least I haven’t even thought about itt that he played for them.
Ikon
Either way, I don’t see this happening as they’ll want even more than 50m which already is too much imo.

Convinced nearly everyone naming him can't have seen him play much You can't really cherry pick a name that would be less suited to being a success as a winger in this league never mind an Eddie side. janpawel
If we get him, then for me, my verdict depends on how much for, and what else we do with the squad (quality CM / AM addition etc) But focusing on just Elanga, imo - Limits us to our existing style of play, albeit a better version - Clearly our weak point was those good upper mid table sides (Bournemouth, Brighton, Fulham etc), don't see Elanga as a difference maker in these games - Kind of feel we will cap ourselves / hit a ceiling if we just focus on transitional play - Villa, Chelsea etc improve more than us over summer if our signings aren't transformative If we didn't have Gordon, he'd be the perfect signing

If you think he is worth that much fair enough. I don't and hopefully we don't find out
