A premier league experienced manager signing - while other teams are investing in the next one-season wonder.

He's utterly shocking but no worse than Gordon today, or many others.

We're not set up to suit his style and hes now worth about 15m. Great PSR move that one.

Tbf to the lad who the hell has he got to target?  Hopefully when Wissa get's fitter we see a a different player

Doesn't matter when he's got the touch of a Sunday morning player and misplaces short passes on the reg.

Anyway, on the rare occasions he's managed to cross a ball he tends to smash them miles past the danger zone anyway.

He's absolutely chod.

There was a point in the second half where he needed half a dozen touches to get the ball under control and headed in the right direction.  The lad isn’t good enough.

He’s a technically poor player, has no skill, his only asset is pace but he doesn’t seem comfortable running with the ball. Most bizarre signing ever.

I had my reservations about him when we were linked with him but I refuse to believe there isn't a player in there if Eddie targeted him.

Yep, and I feel desperately sorry for the lad.  Feel like we should cut our losses as soon as possible.  The situation is likely to get much worse atm.

For me, Elanga is the biggest flop of all the purchases this season. :thdn:

Woltemade just behind him mind you. The first and only header he "won" ends in our net. Abysmal.

I remember when I was in Singapore and he scored the first Newcastle goal I ever saw live. Was convinced we had that winger we needed for so long then.

Now I'd say he's Obertan levels of all pace and no skill, no intelligence.

I understand the frustration today. Sleep on your statement for a night.

Here's my other post:

Today's derby was a typical 0-0 draw. And yes, Nick ruined the most important game of the season with his horrendous own goal.

His teammates were just as bad, but were lucky enough not to score such a needless own goal.

His many good performances in the first two months were finally undone today. There's hardly a bigger fall from grace – from budding legend to clown.

I hope Nick comes out of this slump stronger than before.

I said he wasn't worth half of the money we paid and I was wrong, he's not even worth a third of what we paid. Will go down as arguably the worst signing in the history of this club with the amount we paid for him. Absolute total fuck up by Howe and his nephew

I don't think he's a bad player based on how he was for Forest. However I think he isn't the right fit here. What we really needed was a leftie who can cut in, score goals and unlock defences. Unfortunately Elanga is more of what we already had, bar Barnes. Pace, running, but with no technical players in the team he's pedestrian.

He's absolutely bereft of confidence and can't pass a ball 5 yards. Until Trips is back to help him, out Murphy has to start. His game should be simplified in the short term. Just play balls in behind for him to chase or beat players with pace and then get a cross in or win the set play. He can't link with Livramento's overlaps and turns over the play so much leaving us exposed on the right flank. The Union game showed what he can do if used correctly but he hasn't been able to build on that and is clearly struggling badly while trying to find his way.

Impossible to argue against the criticism but in a desperate search for positives, you just hope that he'll improve with the team. He's poor in a bad team, it's not like he's standing out like a sure thumb. Clutching, I know.
