Miley didn’t look anything like the same level when he was playing last season.  The lad clearly has bags of potential, but he looked lightweight and not quite ready just yet.

Looked canny in the champions league.

To give them credit, Wimbledon did defend very well. They always seemed to have a defender there blocking off the spaces even when we did try to pass through them.

Anybody would think they didn’t have 10 players in their own box almost the entire game, it’s all very well saying they’re a League 2 side is all well and good, but look at their recent clean sheet stats. They’re clearly a well drilled and organised team who tried to hang into the game as long as possible.

I swear some people go on as if this isn’t typical of a lot of early cup round games every year. Remember the multiple games against Stevenage for example

I'm just a bit disappointed we failed to create (m)any chances against a League 2 team at home despite having the ball for about 85% of the time. Them sitting deep is absolutely fine and I don't blame them one bit, I am however a bit frustrated we tried and failed to break them or open them up all night and I don't think I'm too out of line in mentioning it tbh. Had we created a load of chances and missed them and it finished 1-0 then it's fair enough, it happens but to slog away all night and not create anything of note is extremely disappointing like

Obviously a huge difference in class, but from what I saw it reminded me a bit of the second half of the Man City - Arsenal game, where Arsenal had all 10 men camped around their own half. Even a team as good as City playing against (albeit class) 10 men struggles to create anything, and they were desperate for a goal or two.

Thought it was a pretty professional performance, so in a minority here. Comfortable win, controlled the game and some good minutes for the likes of Osula.

I don't think anyone should expect to steamroller a lower league team in a cup tie. Not the most exciting watch, agreed, but actually quite enjoyed it anyway for getting the job done with no drama.

Had some chances to get a second that were either blocked smartly or indirectly through ones face being in between an open net and Willock's shot. They did absolutely nothing but block and clog up the box effectively. Like us under Bruce, ride your luck until something fortunate happens that you can eek out a result.

I hope he becomes a great midfielder.  But he looked lightweight and out of his depth several times in the PL last season - but I’m sure he’ll develop

I think we created chances, they were just ugly, broken up, deflected or errant crosses that found the touchline instead of a player. Our corners and other set pieces were pretty dire.

It was an odd tactic to have Willock on corners and have him pass it down the line

They had big units in their own box and we didn’t have much of an aerial threat, probably the thought was to try and lure them out and create space in behind. They sadly were diligent in keeping their shape though, which meant it didn’t work

I don't think we were ever in any danger of not going through but it would have been nice to see a bit more than what they produced tonight. I know I'm being picky but we've ripped far, far better teams apart over the last few years but tonight was just a boring slog from start to finish. Their keeper has had to make 3 saves all night, to not create more is just a bit disappointing to me, I just expected a little more from us. Maybe I shouldn't have set my sights too high

To have so much of the ball with so much time and so much space and create so little is more than a bit concerning I can't lie. To need a pen to get past a league 2 side and barely working their keeper all night is very unimpressive.

I know it's only the cup and the result is the only thing that matters but it's still a really poor show tbh. Never carved them open all night despite having about 85% of the ball but a win's a win :undecided:

Midfield simply non-existent first half. Longstaff and Willock needed to impose themselves tonight. Thought our passing and final ball was piss poor at times.

That's completely fair and reasonable. I really hope we find a Semenyo type player who can take on two or 3 players to open up space for others or drill the ball into the back of the net.

I will still die on the hill that these are the games you miss ASM. Even Man City have realised that signing Doku. You need to beat a man or two then it opens up.

We tried to get through by playing intricate passes around the edge of their box, but that's not really our game.

Gordon wasted a couple of good situations by being a bit greedy, I thought. He also doesn't look to link with Hall as much as he could. Hall often makes an overlap but Gordon never tries to play him in.

Quite relieved the game got moved because I reckon we’d have properly struggled at theirs. It also says a lot about our goal threat that we had a centre back taking penalties and our only actual possibility of a goal went off at half time.

Nothing at all to worry about re the match.  Played in first gear against opposition which didn’t require us to shift into second.  Why run yourself into the ground if you can get the result you need?  Through to the next round for a more blood and thunder affair.  There was a time when we often didn’t win these sort of games.

Got free once and belted the ball into the crowd. Been a spectator for the rest of the game, waiting forlornly for the supply line to get into gear.

Ok, so similar to how Isak’s been this sesson.

Yeah we don’t have anyone really do we and we’ve certainly been crying out for some proper creativity on the RW. Bruno and Garden are the only ones who can open up a team (I think Tonali will be able to in time)

Shout out to the Tim Henman fans in the away end. Probably the poorest set of away fans I’ve seen in decades. One song repeated every quarter of an hour or so. Awful.

Even against Wimbldon we looked far from convincing, but again the result is what matters, would've loved to see the players try and take the game a bit more intensely and get the crowd going but it felt like  a pre-season friendly.

The ultimate example of doing the absolute bare minimum to win a game this.

Assuming Schär was just doing his usual and not injured you couldn’t really ask for more. Not a single bead of sweat was shed and we’ll all have forgotten about this in a couple of months.

Schär the best player on the field by an absolute mile and everyone else was on a play safe mantra bar Will the Pest.

Thought the game was fine, it was more like watching a training session except their defenders were taking it seriously

They never rattled us so we just won at a canter. It wasn’t as ruthless as I would like but it was all that was needed.

We definitely looked better towards the end with a few more of the dangerous players on.
