What did you rate Bruno second half?

I thought he was very good actually.  The best he's been by far this season.  Are you OK with that honesty?

Always nice to win against Chelsea. Our first half was good with great tenacity and high pressing. Joe should’ve probably given us the lead after 2 mins already and we didn’t really look back after that.

A bit too low and passive in the second half for my liking but given the amount of possession they had they didn’t really create much apart from Felix chance after Burn’s lunge.

Once again I have to say though that Pope is in a really weird place after his injury. The sheer amount of “catchable” balls he tries to punch doesn’t really fill me with confidence - and alongside his piss poor kicking makes him a pretty easy target for the opponents.

We looked the more likely winners from the start - perhaps we wanted it more.

If Chelsea had scored in the second half, they'd have probably got more, so it was never entirely comfortable. But a good effort by the lads.

And you know this how? They never got near us

Osula played well when he came on, Joelinton as well all game. Very good and we had the best chances as well.

Still don’t look a well coached side imo.

I must have just imagined tha we were defensively very structured, closed the passing lanes in the middle, changed formation several times, with Joelinton playing as a RWB at one point, and limited Chelsea to pot shots bar one through ball to Felix.

So very poorly coached.

It was a good performance albeit against a weakened Chelsea side, but we have had performances like this in isolation at various points over the last 18 months.

We need to put a run together of these performances, hopefully today can be the start of a good run.

They weren’t limited to potshots mind - they had several gilt-edged chances that they should’ve buried

Tonali doesn’t press, either

Or was it that he’s not good at retaining possession?

Both? I forgot what his complaint was now.

Thought it was a very professional performance. Pressed high early and got couple of goals. Chelsea had few dangerous counters mostly from us stupidly losing possession. Dropped back and it was quite comfortable despite Chelsea having couple of decent chances.

Some really good individual performances (Krafth, Tonali, Joelinton etc.) and better from Willock and Longstaff. Pope not being able to catch anything is weird and Gordon once again appeared a bit sulky at right and all our good stuff came from the left.

So that silly stat about only winning when Longstaff starts carries on.

But what about the Bruno one? I assume we've won games he hasn't started but I remember this being a thing. Was it? Or did we just break it?

That was much better. Created a bit, pressed a lot higher up the pitch and got instant rewards. Thought Chelsea were poor but we 100% deserved to go through, they had opportunities but couldn't finish (funny how these things sometimes balance out). Just need to take the positives and run with them, Kelly starting for example, Osula coming on and getting involved, Joelinton and Tonali looking better without Bruno on the pitch...;)

My god, is that perhaps a "half whinge"?

They had a few where they didn't even get the shot away because they had awful control in the box. They were woeful in that regard but it's why the performance troubles me because on another day we concede a couple of goals in that match.

Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of positives to take as well!
