Only 8 teams qualify automatically. At least one of them will need to keep winning. And the load is so heavy for those teams. IMO they only go full strength in the final. Yet apparently we played these at the same stage just 4 years ago and I have no memory of. I would’ve watched, but shows how disinvested I was at that time. Aren't you lucky lol.... I was as disinterested as I've ever been in the goings on of the club at this particular time, but remember it was near Christmas and the thought of us getting to a semi final of a competition did get me a tiny bit excited, so I booked a half day off work and bought a few cans to watch it.... it was absolutely horrendous.... was easily one of the worse performances of the Bruce era (which is saying something) remember Jamal Lewis being particularly woeful that night. The College Dropout
It’s Spurs/Man U that will go hell for leather to win it. Spurs played what looks like their strongest team against City. Would’ve preferred City to go through.

The last couple non top 6 winners were Birmingham and Boro no? 10+ years ago a pop. The squad depth is so deep they can get to the semis playing heavily rotated teams and take it from there. Swansea too

Ginola14
Spurs really have to go for it after Ange's boast about always winning a trophy in his second season and similar to us they badly crave a trophy of any kind when we got to the quarters in 2023 it felt more open Soton eliminated City then, would be great if they could repeat the trick with Pool nice to have a very winnable QF to look forward to anyway us against MU/Spurs/Arse/Pool over 2 legs if we get to the semis would be massive one of the reasons I'd love to win this comp is also because it's so difficult these days for any club outside the usual suspects
samptime29
Brentford are a decent side. Not going to be easy. Clearly a game we can win though.
The Fountain
Would've preferred Spurs, Arsenal, Mancs or Liverpool. They all have loads of European games in the next 6 weeks.

The Fountain
Our 5th QF tie in the last 11 years. In the previous 54 years of the competition we'd only made to the the QF 6 times.

ramirez
League cup more fan friendly in many respects, two legged midweek semis are decent and bigger allocation for Wembley, with just one trip required. A friend from Liverpool said the final is always a drag for him as its on a Sunday and he's at work next day (teacher), the heart bleeds.

Colos Short and Curlies
I reckon the semis are going to b Arsenal, Soton, Spurs, Us. Midweek fixtures so they will of course fix it so that we get Southampton. Arsenal in the final

For some reason I thought we were number 3 and felt the crushing blow of us having a very annoying away tie (Spurs I think it was). Jizzed mesen when we were the next ball out. It's certainly no gimme but it's just a fantastic opportunity. We had Leicester at home at this stage in the 2022/23 run and that's still one of my favourite games post-takeover. Burn's first goal was such a great moment (followed by the dance). (fucking hate that commentator)

(fucking hate that commentator) I hate Hindsight Hinchcliffe on co-comms. But I don’t mind the main guy. Him and his Scottish mate that loves the phrase ‘got through a power of running’ seem to get a lot of our 3pm games. Both always seem to be enjoying themselves and maybe I just associate their voices with a lot of decent memories from recent seasons.
