Brentford 4-2 Newcastle United - 07/12

Recommended Posts

I get that it's part of Brentford's style of play, but it really is becoming a bit of a pattern that teams take what little chances they have against us.

That's Everton, Brighton, Chelsea, West Ham, Man City and now Brentford where we've dropped points despite their xG against us being below ours, not a good sign.

People signing up exclusively to revel in negativity is tedious as fuck, agreed. Twitter shields us most of the time from that, thankfully. Not sure there's any wummery here though...

He was rested and that was a crap decision. Expecting him to come on and save the day, with predictable results.

And the excuse for this is “he was tired”, when Howe played a supposed injured Longstaff every single week last season.

Longstaff is Howe’s boogeyman.

The problem Sandro had was that he was broight on to help us get a goal or two back i.e. all out attack.

He was not really there to act as a defensive pivot...

Their third goal killed us, our defending of a deep free kick was pathetic.

Their fourth goal was some crsip passing and our players far too far up the pitch trying to get a goal.

First half looked like we would win it, but we made a couple of mistakes.

Second half they played some nice one touch football against our dilly dallying on passes and slow approach.

They deserved the win!

Thought we played well first half and were the better team. Second half seemed a bit of a mess with the subs not helping at all except maybe Wilson.

No disgrace in losing away to the best home team this season. Third goal killed us which despite what EH said I did feel was weather contributed.

It shows we aren’t at the stage where we can rotate unnecessarily.

Bunce’s input may have us all looking a bit silly when it comes to final third of the season but as it stands last season’s approach of playing until burnt out completely looking like it suits us better.

Ultimately if Joelinton plays well (our only outfield ever present?) we play well. Today he looked knackered after half an hour.

Has anyone mentioned Almiron’s cameo btw? Fucking hilarious. The bright point of the day seeing him parody a professional footballer.

Runs around like a dog going after a ball. I reckon my dog has a better touch and more spacial awareness than him, mind.

Kind of galling to watch players like Madueke and Mbuemo come from relative obscurity and look so much better in the last couple of years. Meanwhile he seems to have been around forever and we'd probably have to give him away now.

What was the craic there?

Similar to what a few of us have said on here.

Players easily motivated for the likes of Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool but cannot get motivated for the likes of Brentford, West Ham, Palace etc.
