Leazes1986
I'm absolutely amazed that anyone would put Albert above Schar mind. On what basis? Schar is better at just about everything and he's done it over a longer period of time.

I always feel like that lob does a lot of heavy lifting for him in terms of nostalgia.

Yorkie
Think the Tiote shouts are a bit wild tbh. Was very fond of him but I'm not sure he pulled up any trees for us after his first season.

I thought Coloccini was pretty much dogshit for the majority of his time here. Championship season he found his feet, season back up he was a lot more solid. Top class the year we finished 5th. Honking after that.

After that he was a bit of a shambles. Some awful long range shooting.
Infinitely Content
Given. Trippier. Schar. Coloccini. Hall. Bruno G. Cabaye. Ben Arfa. Isak. Robert. Shearer. Hall was the only tentative decision for me, but I don't think we've had many good left backs.

Not better than the 2011-12 Coloccini IMO. He was brilliant that season, was in the Team of the Year as well.

He had more talent than any other player I've seen for us, maybe Beardsley aside, but through a combination of shite management and his own personal battles, he wasn't able to deliver on it quite often enough to include him IMO. While he was excellent for us at times, I've always felt he was a cult hero more for what he should have been allowed to become, rather than what he actually was. Maybe also for what he represented during the Pardew era in general, too. I agree with this. This is about picking the best team, not the most talented. If we were to pick the most talented team Gazza should be in there, for example, but he was obviously young when he left the club and had his best years elsewhere. Agree, people forget how good he was in that season. No defender has reached such heights in the premier league era for us IMO. Depends on what you’re looking for. Some players were absolutely amazing for us but only for maybe a season or two. Others, have perhaps not been as good but get chosen for their longevity. He was not an all round midfielder and his role certainly changed for the worse.
Leazes1986
I seem to remember the turning point for Coloccini in my mind, is when he done that overhead kick in our half next to the corner flag, when we were defending at the Gallowgate at home to Southampton. I think he got a back injury from that, and I seem to remember that when he came back, his levels dropped massively. It didn't even keep him out for that long, but I just remember him being brilliant from 2009/10 until that point. When he returned from that, he didn't seem arsed anymore. I remember a game vs Man U where he just won everything. That said he didn't really hit those height very often particularly after the first year or two and he was pretty limited going forward. I'd categorise under good rather than great personally, though he could be great at times.

Pardew was somewhat to blame as he tried to turn a limited CDM into a playmaker. More a random thought but does anyone know how Palace fans view Cabaye? He actually played for them a fair bit more than us.
