I think the new owners missed a trick by not recognising those who were members prior to the takeover who perhaps should have been offered some form of 'enhanced membership' which doesn't have the same status as a STH, but provides a better chance of securing tickets than a scouse twat who can't get a ticket in the away end.

We’re there members pre takeover? Particularly paid ones. Can’t remember them ever being discussed. How much was the membership under previous owner?

you want people getting their ST's taken off them?

No. Not even sure how you've reached that conclusion.

It's a closed shop because no ST's have been sold since summer 2022. There is no way to acquire one.

We're talking about giving members a way to climb a ladder of priority versus other members. No one has suggested taking any ST's away

on the other hand people would complain if there were too many ST holders and there were limited tickets available on general sale on a game by game basis.

No one in here has said we should add more ST's

To add to my post, membership was launched in 2009 and it's more or less continued from there.

In terms of the benefits back when I got mine, it gave you priority access to home and away tickets after ST Holders and you even got loyalty points for attending home cup games and away matches, I ended up with 5 loyalty points as a member before they got taken away from my account in 2021.

Wholly my own opinion here.

There seems to be some growing resentment coming from none season ticket holders towards those that do have season tickets, it started quite tamely but, is escalating quickly to a critisism that we somehow supported Ashley and enjoyed being managed by Steve Bruce.

I have had a season ticket for so many years that I stopped counting.  However, my point is that when Rafa left and Bruce was appointed I chucked my ticket in.  It was my understanding that a majority of others were going to do the same.  Seems that it was just a handful in the end.  I was on a fixed 10 year (which seems to have become endless) deal and was paying hardly anything in reality.  As the talk of the takeover was really gathering pace I asked my son and my dad if they wanted to get tickets again, initially it would be just for one season to see what happened with the takeover etc.  Of course no 10 year deal prices were available, I pay close to double the amount others are paying who sit near to me.  Anyway as things turned out it was the best thing I could have done and a few short months into that season it all happened.  It also happened that when I bought my season tickets back that would also be the last time season tickets would be available to buy.  I feel incredibly lucky for those circumstances to have rolled out for me in the way that they did.

I feel heartily sorry for the ones who want to go to the match but, have the issues to buy tickets.  It would be great if it was better or we had a bigger stadium or something but, we don't.  I am not quite sure what else I want to say other than being a season ticket holder does not make me feel superior to anyone that doesn't.  It makes me feel grateful and somewhat lucky...

Very similar circumstances to myself. After 29 years I gave my ST up when we failed to keep Rafa. On a deal also. Loyalty pts wiped. Expected 10s of thousands staying away and doing the same but nowhere near as many did in reality. Wondered why I'd bothered and felt let down by our fan base.  Still do if I'm honest. After missing it and thinking my staying away was futile I gambled on going back. After all I could walk away if nowt changed. I can understand why people persevered. It's hard to stop doing what you've enjoyed doing all your life. Some worried about the loyalty point aspect but those who walked away did so to improve the club. So that there would be cup finals as there is now. Only thing is the ones who tried to make a difference are now missing out and have people like Magdad mocking them, along with the disabled. Out of order Magdad. We all have opinions but shouldn't resort to personal insults.

pretty sure he didn't mean it like that, his personal sacrifice and all that.

The idea of - what I believed would be - a mass abandonment of season tickets was to try to force Ashley out of the club.  Ultimately he left for his own reasons (which involved being pumped full of cash) but, ultimately he left and we are a better club for it.

People did leave in protest though to try to force Ashley to sell. Many of these are our most dedicated fans with many giving up loyalty points I could only dream of having. They’d sat through worse times than when Rafa left but enough was enough.

Also, the way our away fan base is going, I think it’s time to get some of those fans back and younger ones in, if it’s ever to return to what it once was.

Tbf I don't think it was a coincidence that Ashley looked to sell the club months after he was literally giving away half season tickets.

On my death bed I think my biggest regret in life will be not taking one of those.
