[League Cup Final] Newcastle United Vs. Liverpool - 16/03/25 (Live on ITV & Sky)

The final I wanted.

If you win a Cup, make it special. ( I was delighted with the Group of Death Champions League group.)

Howe will have the team up for it. They're always up for the big names. It's the mid-table sides that are trouble.

I don't think the calibre of team would have mattered for a LC Final, it's more your average PL games that are the problem.

Back to back wins at Wembley against Liverpool incoming after our 1-0 win on penalties in the Mercantile Credit Centenary Trophy in 1988.

I was there. First time at Wembley. A really strange experience.

But, just like today, they were the best team in the country at the time, and we beat them.

Craig Hope appears to think we will be in the West stand. Think that likely means box park too?

Would be the same craic as the last time if true.

We of course have a chance, but I just can’t see how you stop their attack.

The other problem is that their tactical fouls in general play go unpunished and the opposition receive cards for doing the same.  And the cunts get a pen every game for hoying themselves around the box where as you feel for us to get a pen, someone has to get decapitated

Yup, I think we're going to need to be at our very best to beat Liverpool, plus I get the feeling they're more of a darling to the FA and officials than us. On the upside at least, if they win the league as well, the UEFA Conference coming our way by default wouldn't be so bad... unless we miraculously manage a Champions League spot. The other thing is that I think I'd feel less aggrieved at losing to the current Liverpool team in the final, than a slip up against Spurs, so all in all, if we look at it negatively and assume we'll lose, there's at least 'some' silver linings there.

... that said, I'd much rather we gubbed the bin dipping, thieving gypo bastards though :indi:

Think we'll do what we haven't seemingly done in decades - score at Wembley. But not enough to beat a team that is a tier above us. Liverpool will rightly be strong favourites.
