Accompanied by Carragher I'm sure. Hopefully there is an alternate channel or I'll be watching it on mute. Aye it’s on ITV as well. Not sure who they’ll have on comms like? McCoist would be most people’s choice I guess.
alexf Posted Sunday at 11:45 Share Posted Sunday at 11:45 Mute it is then It's 2025. There should be more options like just crowd noise these days. Or they could just not have utterly unbearable and biased commentary teams.
Hanshithispantz Posted Sunday at 12:03 Share Posted Sunday at 12:03 Speaking of commentators, I really liked Seb Hutchinson's reactions in the Arsenal game.

Doctor Zaius Posted Sunday at 14:01 Share Posted Sunday at 14:01 (edited) Dubravka has come in and done well in Popes absence, and whilst Pope is poor with his feet, he is a much bigger presence and pulls off better reaction/shot stopping saves. If we're going to win, we're probably going to need a big moment or two from the goalkeeper. I do wonder whether Pope would be a better option. Too much of a sacrifice of our general play? Would be very harsh on Dubravka and I don't think Howe would drop him, but I do wonder whether Pope would give us a better chance of pulling something off. I would bring in Pope if Botman and Schär start as their ability to play the ball compensates for losing Dubravka's superior range passing. I think it was against Arsenal where Dubravka saved a shot down to his right and I was surprised. On the replay it became apparent that he still dives in slow motion to his right. Pope has a point to prove Vs Liverpool after missing the last final due to his sending off.
TK-421 Posted Sunday at 14:48 Share Posted Sunday at 14:48 Minor thing, but is there a reason everything is billing this 'Liverpool v Newcastle' now, when initially it was 'Newcastle v Liverpool'?
patrone Posted Sunday at 15:44 Share Posted Sunday at 15:44 (edited) This is how Liverpool did the tickets last season, which is quite a difference to how we did it the year before "Ballot registration is available to Season Ticket Holders and Members who have recorded 3 Carabao Cup matches played during season 2023/24. An email will also be sent on Friday January 26 to all supporters who are eligible to register for the ballot" Edited Sunday at 15:44 by patrone

Dubravka’s much improved form this season doesn’t change that IMO. Sort of related, I thought Pope was very good last night and all. Two of his usual crap passes. But also some nice stuff from him pinging it about and a couple of decent enough stops. When we signed Pope. Nobody was really calling for a new keeper from memory and plenty didn’t see it as much of an upgrade at the time. It didn’t take long for people to see what an upgrade he was. Admittedly, earlier in the season Pope was mostly average to poor by his standards and he made some howlers. But the whole team was inconsistent and even our star players were struggling for form. I find the notion that the run we went on had loads to do with Dubravka coming in and him suddenly improving us. As daft as the argument that social media and pundits liked to use about how we’re a better team with Longstaff in. Purely because of the final result and a reasonably small sample size. It’s incredibly reductive. I’d play Pope in the next 3, personally. Never mind the final. Certainly City and Liverpool. I think those sort of games he’ll excel for various reasons. Not that clubs tend to rotate their keepers for league games and understandably so, I guess.
54 Posted Sunday at 16:29 Share Posted Sunday at 16:29 Interesting how Liverpool's game with Villa, that was originally meant to take place during the weekend of the final, has been rescheduled already for a couple of weeks time, but we've not heard anything about the Palace game yet. Guess it'll be a midweek game, which couldn't have been possible for Liverpool/Villa due to them being in the CL.

I think it’s because it’s about the only free week they’ve both got due to CL, whereas us and Palace will a few spare weeks after the final.

Ah cheers, thought it might have just been that (alphabetical), but initially things billed us first, so had thought perhaps it was based on who went through first. Billy Warthog Posted Monday at 08:43 Share Posted Monday at 08:43 One thought that I'm sort of clinging onto - the finals of 1998 and 1999 were led by two very different managers (Dalglish and Guillit). We've now got the same manager for two finals in close proximity, so hopefully the lessons learned will be more embedded this time. Whether that actually makes a difference remans to be seen. Those two finals were dreadful, we just didn’t turn up and it was so disheartening to watch. Even two years ago we showed more fight than those two finals.
