A for me. He'd arguably get into any side in the league.

He's an A imo. He's exceptional and he's going to get even better too. We only have a couple of As in the squad tbh but he's definitely one of them, probably only a couple of CMs in the league I'd swap him for, he's got the lot

A easily, other than Isak he's our second best player imo.

B- for Joelinton IMO. Imperative for how Newcastle are set up for specific games, although the emergence of Tonali this year has made him less indispensable.

Love him but I don’t think he’s done enough yet to think he’d walk into any team in the world.

He's only hinted at being an A so far for me. Needs to be consistently brilliant though.

B. As Yorkie says he's had his 'A' moments but needs to do it consistently over a longer period for me before we can start calling him one of the best in the world.

Tonali is a comfortable B but within 12 months he could be an A.

definitely potential to be A, but B for now. Only Isak has shown the consistency over a prolonged period to be A-worthy. Tonali is second in line though imo.

Confirmed as our most overrated player already, sheesh. He’s a B at best based on his performances so far in our colours, but he definitely has A potential.

I'm not criticising the rating scale tbf just saying I'd be surprised if any of ours aside from Isak are As

Yeah, Sandro is definitely not in the same bracket as Messi, Ronaldo, Maradona, Pele etc

Think the issue is not only our subjective ratings of players is different but also our interpretations of the rankings are different as well. There’s a world of difference between a World Class player in the Messi ranks (no one comes remotely close) and someone who is one of the ten best in their position worldwide. For me, I’d consider world class as a top ten player in their position consistently

There’s no way Tonali is a top 10 CM in the world, surely?

He could play for any team in the world. ‘Walk in’, well that’s subjective. But he could get it and he would look good.

I think he is in terms of ability. I don’t think he is in terms of what he’s shown for us so far, especially in that first season. However, I think with time he’ll show himself to be a top ten CM. I think he has everything in all honesty

It’s pointless having the A bracket if it’s only for those players though.

I think he's high B with the potential to be an A with more games and consistency. He's in the right place to get both, especially if we have a clever summer and upgrade a couple of places in the squad so he's in a better overall team.

 

He definitely has the ceiling to play with better players and not look out of place.
