The contrast between Miley and Longstaff btw

I feel like if you're criticising Longstaff based on that game, you're just doing it because you have an agenda and want to make that known, he was literally on the pitch for stoppage time and basically did nothing of note

There's a lot of this squad that look finished.

Pope looks a shadow of himself since the injury. Wilson is shot to bits. Schar seems on the decline. Willock looks past his best.

The effects of very little recruitment the last few windows is starting to show.

It feels like a big refresh is needed in the summer.

For me, the following are all surplus to requirement

Pope - Trippier - Schar - Burn - Targett - Longstaff - Willock -,Wilson - Murphy

Thats the scale of the job

We looked closer to the Bruce version of us than the Howe. But that's going to happen when we are carrying quite a few not good enough anymore.

As said earlier to compete against teams like this we need all of our beat players on the pitch and firing. Isak is a massive equaliser for us as he drags us up a few levels when he plays.

Mentality is a massive thing in football though and you could see it for both goals. Our players are scared of Liverpool and Anfield. They all backed off and dropped into positions they shouldn't be on both. They were really poor goals to concede.

Fucking hell man. We’re three points off fourth. We’re having a wobble. We’ve been bent over by the FA and hobbled by the bent rules so we’ve not been able to upgrade the first team in two years.
Eddie is working miracles with a small squad who are fucking knackered.

Bent over by the PL and the likes of Liverpool and this is exactly why.

He got over 10 minutes on the pitch. And looked clumsy as hell. Gave the ball away with his typical shoddy passing.

Miley was leaps ahead and it was clear, even if Longstaff only got 10 minutes.

No agenda, just a description of events. I mean, the contrast was so stark even after ten minutes of Longstaff that it stuck in my mind

Mental

I can't even think why someone would say that

Unless we can figure out a way to not give the ball away between now and the cup final, we’re toast. Liverpool are just too clinical.
I get that we play high risk, high reward football but a bit of keep ball every now and again in training wouldn’t be a bad idea.

it’s a bit concerning that Barnes looks like he’s running in treacle in his sub appearances so far. Doesn’t appear to have any stamina either.

Such a waste of money that needed investing in a right winger.

Take a step back and a deep breath, there's a few factors in play tonight, we were playing away from home at the top team in the country, who are 13 points clear of the nearest rival. We're down Joelinton, Botman and most pertinantly Isak.

The mentality was lacking today, Hall the only exclusion, the kid is immeasurably good! I can imagine the loss of Isak affected the confidence of the team also, Schar, sadly, looks to be on his way out, Pope looks poor too and Bruno has been uncharacteristically off the boil for a worrying amount of time.

It wasn't an enjoyable watch, I think we did OK considering the circumstances, the change in formation and personnel. One thing I do know is that is nothing like what we'll see in the final, this Liverpool side aren't one of the greats, they are not infallible, we can do these.

For all the zero shots on target stuff. Wilson was clean through on goal and missed. I'd rather have 1 chance like that in a game than 3 on targets from 40 yds that the keeper puts his hat on.

That chance was half an hour in. We had plenty of the ball after that like, it's not one or the other.

And 2 points of 10th. On schedule for 62 points isnt that great when we have no Europe. Its decent considering the small squad, but no miracle.
