Technically on the ball they are superior. Means we have to take our chances on the counter.

We are not going to be able to play possession or pressing football against this Brighton side.

Like a low level 'gallant' Div 2 side

The lingering feeling for me is sheer bitterness in that, for us, we had to win it twice and that didn't apply to Brighton.

Others will take a different view because of their hard-ons for lines that only exist in the digital world, but it's not far off Tino/PSG levels of bullshit for me.

Just fuck off, man. Self-destruct my arse, we won it.

what's even more galling is there was no VAR in previous rounds that resulted in MU's miles offside goal being allowed v Leicester in last minute

I'm still clinging to hope that we can get Gordon's bad reduced to 1 game, it was soft as fuck compared to some of the actual violent shit other players have gotten away with (VVD, Kulusevski etc)

Gordon usually causes TAA serious problems so this is just another win for Liverpool if it stands

Overall incredibly deflating and just seems typical Newcastle luck

Why would his ban be reduced to one game?  It's either violent conduct (3 games) or it's not and it'll get rescinded.

News flash - it isn't getting rescinded.

Joe Willock is the reason we lost that game.  One of the worst misses of the season.

I haven’t seen a replay, presume he actually reached it but just mistimed the header?

Thought initially it might’ve just been out of his reach.

Willock in general has been annoyingly bad recently.

He looked accusingly at Schar after it, not sure if he got a call or something but he got the merest glance on it.

We are not good enough as a team. In possession we are shocking at times. Not the game to single out one player.

Honestly one of the worst I’ve felt leaving the stadium in years and I honestly mean that. Absolutely fuming - it’s very rare you’ll get to the quarters with the teams that are left in it now.

An absolutely huge opportunity missed and it will be even more sickening when one of Bournemouth, Brighton or Villa go on to win it. I certainly wouldn’t fear playing Man City at Wembley at the minute.

It feels like 2023 all over again. Playing absolutely shit in the lead up to the final. Was quietly confident when we beat Arsenal that we could cause Liverpool problems. Now I’m pretty certain we’re to be embarrassed on and off the pitch.

i felt worse after a couple of the recent home games vs liverpool.

that whistle going without adding any extra injuty time, and darwin fucking nunez.

that darwin ninez game stayed with me for weeks.

nowt as bad as the belgrade at home penalties fiasco.

The Nunez game destroyed me for a long time, as did the Forest home loss last season. This season the Brighton PL game at home angered me the most

I still think that Nunez game is the worst I’ve felt after a defeat in a long time. Completely blew it and should never have drawn, never mind lost that game.

Barely said a word the rest of the afternoon and evening

tell you what there seemed loads of empty seats at this game in level  7 near the away fans and in the platinum club. 700 less there than for a league game.....

Wonder if people are petrified about forwarding their tickets on now

Same. It's the most rattled I've been over a game of football in years.

Aye that Nunez game was horrible actually. Bank holiday Sunday and I fucked off straight home, didn’t even have a single pint. Was sickening.

I travelled up and stayed in Jesmond, only to be let down for ticket that was promised. Watched in a pub that I used to know; that was completely different and (perhaps) unsurprisingly had a completely different crowd/nobody I knew. Then the game. Thoroughly miserable experience.
