Paqueta has been trying to prove a point to us ever since we refused to sign him.

I thought his hearing was happening? Is he still playing?

Feels like the whole club and fans need a result after that debacle last weekend and going into the cup final. It also feels like CL qualification is starting to disappear over the horizon if we don’t win matches like this. We have “winnable” remaining fixtures but our form doesn’t exactly suggest we’ll go on a run.

Lose tonight and the season could fizzle out dramatically. We'll lose the cup final without laying a glove on Liverpool and then fade away into 10th or 11th in the league table, thus missing out on Europe, which will have grave consequences for us in the short-term at least.

This is why tonight's game is so important.

If we lose tonight we'll be one point off a European place (three off CL) with 30 points to play for.

Do you think we've got the mentality to do anything about it? We need another run, need to pick up momentum asap. Lose this, then the cup final and some of these will just coast until the end of the season.

As it happens I'm quite positive about tonight.

Howe seems to be able to manage a bit of a reset/harden minds and efforts for one last push which is why I think we still might have a chance of a run after the cup final. As you say there’s still plenty of points to fight for but we do need ti start showing some form and consistency again. A win tonight would be massive.

I don’t think Howe would let us coast in that situation though admittedly it would take massive rallying and man management from Howe. I don’t think the importance of European qualification is lost on the players to be fair.

I don’t see why the players would want to coast. Do they want CL or not? If they do, there are loads of points left to get and they need to go out and win them.

Makes no sense they would suddenly switch off and stop caring.

Have you seen us over the last few weeks, we've been woeful outside of a 10 minute spell against Forest, nearly threw that game away too. I guess the saving grace is that we're playing Brentford, Leicester, Man Utd and Palace as opposed to Brighton, Liverpool and Man City. The game tonight is massive for the rest of the season imo.

I only see 3 games left that are easier than this one. Possibly 4. 4 wins isn't going to give us top 5, so this is a must win to me. Here's their last 5 home games:

2-0 win vs Leicester

0-1 loss vs Brentford

0-2 loss vs Palace

3-2 win vs Fulham

0-5 loss vs Liverpool

Being happy with a draw means having a pretty low standard imo.

Yeah, I don’t know exactly what our issue is but I don’t think the players have just decided to down tools. And I don’t think they will if we lose the cup final either.

I think we can get about 20 more points this season, not sure if that’s enough or not.

20 should be enough for top 5, but if we don't win games like this one, I struggle to see us getting that many points.

Edit: actually I realise it would be 64 points, which might not be enough.
