Smal
watching the full game back. Our approach was interesting. Went really long and didn’t bother with any build up at all. Isak rarely won the header against VVD but we won the second ball the vast majority of the time because the whole midfield 5 were just there. Barnes and Murph went really narrow from goal kicks. Bruno was up against Mac Allister and just completely dominated him every time

I've given Liverpool supporters a lot of gib over the years, perpetual victims, whiney and nothing is ever their fault.... however, after the Cup Final I have to say 90% of them have been magnanimous in defeat, laying the plaudits on us, the players, the manager and the fans and saying we deserved it and that they're happy for us. It's been quite surprising, I must say. Helps when their manager has no excuses and nothing bad to say. It's amazing how this all unfolded. Obviously any way of winning would have been fine (penalties, controversy, easy run, etc.) but the way it all happened has left everyone with nothing to complain about. We beat the best teams, we thoroughly outplayed the likely league runners-up over two legs, and then dominated the champions elect in the final. There's no "if only that had gone in" or "the xG shows we'd likely have won on another day" or "Newcastle cheated this way or that." Which is also why the only thing left for anyone to say, if you don't want to just let the fans enjoy it, is to bring up Saudi.

Was a massive bonus for us that Trent was injured.

Old Stevie? In the promotion season I had a season ticket in the paddock right behind him. Never fully understood why he was allowed to just roam the touchline like he did, and basically stand next to the dugout all game.

We had to beat the top 4 teams in the PL (as well as 11th placed Brentford) in order to win the League Cup. So we did it in just about the hardest way possible and I doubt many teams have achieved that.

Initially KK would go and say hello, shake hands. It was him and Terry Mc who invited him down. TheGuv
3 hours ago, PRL said: Feels like so much to unpack from the weekend. Having worked my way through this thread I'm filled with huge fucking gratitude having managed to get to the final with my old man. Number 1 on my bucket list and 2 years ago I thought it wasn't going to happen and was heartbroken. He dragged his (almost) 80 year old arse into Wembley for another go and we were both in tears by half time. Huge sympathies for those out there that didn't get that experience after all those years. And @TheGuv you and your old man will be at the next one, come hell or high water. Having now watched the game back many times (on my fourth time for full match as I type, alongside so many highlights, clips, etc), I will say that the mics are without a doubt muted throughout the game - our lot turned up massively, I've barely been able to speak since and there was barely a person sat down and we were in the slightly posher bit - half the time the lower bowl looked more like a mosh pit than a football stand. Finally, I had the realisation that my old man and I have seen us against Liverpool together three times over more than thirty years, and we've won every one of them. The Andy Cole hat-trick, the Pepe Reina / Jose Enrique game and now this. Not a shabby record at all. Let's have them in the FA Cup final next year. So buzzing for you and your Dad. I’m sure there were many many tears for everyone in the ground at so many different points throughout the game. I was crying with my dad in the pub before full time ffs It’s such a surreal feeling having won - and one I hope never fades - if we are fortunate enough to continue winning trophies in the future. Hopefully it’s like a drug - every victory is ecstasy. Roll on 29th March when the city will get to do it all over again
Shays Given Tim Flowers
The cirumstances that made this what it was will never happen again in our lifetimes. I don't doubt we will have further success but it'll never be that. It's like blowjobs. I can remember vividly the two best of my life (one was the first), but I still enjoy them all.
