You think Miley will be a better bet defensively? I'm not sure I've seen that yet. I think Williock's athleticism could be a better factor in mitigating Palmer's influence. Neither of them are ideal, obvs.

Didn't Eddie say before the Brighton game that Miley was more of a right-sided midfielder?

Given Chelsea is such an important game I would think that would rule Miley out of the running for the LCM slot. Could move Bruno there and Miley and RCM.....Dunno, it's a tough fit.

Willock isn’t disciplined enough defensively, there’s an argument to start Longstaff. Bringing him in cold and seemingly low confidence would be a risk. Eddie would have all week to work on a game plan. Anyone but Willock for me.

Absolutely no chance should Longstaff play. Every time he's come on now for months, he's looked miles off it. Hence the reason he hardly gets a look in these days.

Fair enough. Actually forgot about Longstaff - poor chap.

Ideally I'd like to see Miley start and have a very positive influence on the game. I think his passing range looks great. Worried about his defensive awareness but perhaps that's come on a lot, it's been quite a while since we've seen him so you never know.

If Bruno & Sandro have a cracker game I guess whoever's the 3rd player in there won't matter as much.

Just need 3 points!

Can see this being a 1-1 draw which is not the result we need

Chelsea played well yesterday and are coming into form, probably have a better squad.

Palmer looked better and in Madueke and Neto they have real pace on the counter. The good thing is Chelsea can still be very vulnerable and are eminently beatable. It has changed from a few weeks back where I was extremely confident of this fixture but not less so even if I am confident of us at home. Our big players all need to turn up, it’s a game for Isak really.

I’m fairly confident in this fixture, as even when the gulf between the two teams was massive under Mourihno, they had a honking record up here. It’s one of those occasions intangibles, much like our own honking record at the Amex, Villa's record at St James' which makes me think we'll get the result we need. Especially if the crowd do their part.

ps: I’ll still be utterly bricking it approaching KO time though

So important in these last 2 home games. Can make the difference.

You were right first time, neither Miley or Longstaff will start left side midfield, just think lack of pace and playing on their wrong side is something Howe won't consider IMO. He'll either go Willock again ( I actually thought he did ok) or he'll change formation.

To be fair it’s one thing Chelsea turning over a Liverpool side pretty much on the beach yesterday, it’s another ball game heading to St James to face us. They don’t have that many experienced heads in that side and I think if we get at them from the off they won’t like it. They have some very good players but I’m still pretty confident at home vs them. Crowd is huge on Sunday too.

ideal.

Shame it wasn’t the later afternoon game on the Sunday or better yet, a night game midweek.

Either way it’s not an excuse for a meek atmosphere, it’s a colossal fixture, crowd needs to be its bit.

It’s even less ideal for them

Yep. Definitely feels like we are getting jibbed with our home KO times this season. Never seen us turned around so often also for KO. Probably just a bit paranoia

How so?

Away from home up here.  Europe on Thursday which I’m sure they’ll make changes for but an early KO surely suits the home team

We are guaranteed to finish at least 7th this season. Last season we finished 7th, and the season before 4th.

We are now part of the top 7, the replacement of the top 6, so our fixtures will be on TV more often than not.

Not arguing that. It’s the time slots handicapping our vocal support it feels. We’ve a dead rubber at 16:30 this Sunday or at very least another dead rubber at 14:15.
