Newcastle United vs. Everton: 25/05/25 @ 16:00 (No UK TV)

I like the 3-4-3 system. I would stick with it for this game:

------------------------Pope--------------------------

-----Schar-------Botman----------Burn--------------

Murph-----Bruno------Tonali-------------Livramento

-----Gordon--------Isak-----------Barnes----------

If Trippier’s able to play, I’d be putting him straight back in.

Pope

Trippier

Schär

Botman

Burn

Livramento

Tonali

Guimarães

Murphy

Isak

Gordon

We’d actually have a decent bench option in Barnes, then.

why Gordon over Barnes, he has been hopeless?

I don’t really think much of Barnes, but he’s been far better off the bench than Gordon has. It’s a toss-up really, one is class but not in good form, while the other is decent and was in decent form before being moved out of position.

We seem a lot more comfortable playing the 3-4-3 or 5-2-3 formation and get a lot more overlaps down the sides.

Everton have a slowish defence and with Braithwaite out I would be up for keeping this same formation.

If Trippier is back then a 4-3-3 is decent, but it´s the left side middle of the park that bothers me; I don´t like either of Willock or Miley in there, they don´t elevate our game in any way...

For me it depends on the team we are up against; if it is a top team with good wide players I prefer Gordon because he generally works harder, helps the LB and presses more (last couple of games excluded!), whereas if it is a lower team I prefer Barnes because he is more productive in the final third.

I would probably stick with 3 CBs if Joelinton is out. Leaving Botman on the bench so we can play Willock or Miley doesn't make sense to me.

Obviously we would hope the defence can engage very high up the pitch and just destroy Everton before they can build any attacks.

Trippier and Isak will start. I suspect they are going to be given copious amounts of pain killers.

Give me an hour of both and we will win the game.

I really like this, I think Gordon should be tried over on the right much more. Especially when Hall isn't playing.

my guess is:

Pope

Trippier

Schar

Burn

Tino

Bruno

Tonali

Willock

Murphy

Isak

Barnes

Subs: Dubravka, Krafth, Botman, Lascelles, Miley, Longstaff, Gordon, Osula, Wilson

If Trips is available, this is what I'd go with.

I think Barnes vs Gordon is going to be the biggest forum argument this summer

I agree. Would be nice to see 60+ mins of Barnes LW and Gordon RW. I get thats harsh on Murphy. I just want to see it as we need to rotate at times and freshen things up occasionally. Especially when Isak isn’t playing like the last one.
