Is there precedent for this? Trying to think of other times clubs have had brilliant seasons followed by a spectacularly bad transfer window despite having plenty of funds available.

I can think of plenty where teams have been ransacked and profited on players after doing well, but nothing like this.

Did spurs not have one a while back where no fucker wanted to join.

They definitely had a manager rejection losing streak. 😂

No one is paying £50m like.

Exactly this. They can say they’ll sell for 50m and not a dime lower, but they’re either a) bluffing or b) not going to be able to sell him.

Well he will be a free transfer at the end of this season.

How.

The player got told 26m, we offered over 30m.

It's less about Wissa & more the fact this is the 15th player this window we've publically ballsed up trying to sign, with our best player sacking us off in the meantime.

Im bedwetting, but we definitely look like idiots.

Probably have info from his agent about the 26M thing

Yeah, if there was a handshake agreement between Wissa and Brentford then we would have known about it. If that is true then our offer is more than fair.

Fairly quick conversation then isn’t it? Not sure why it takes over a week to find out they want £50m

I’ll never understand why people think negotiations play out in the way we hear about them.

Keep hearing this name come up, and he does look a bit useful. How come we haven't shown some interest?

It’s baffling but, giving the club the benefit of the doubt, you have to assume it’s the seeking club moving the goalposts - makes no sense otherwise.

As you say, surely this is a basic conversation done over a couple of pints !

It really is incredible that within the space of a week we went from wow we're signing Ekitike to partner Isak, to Ekitike going to Liverpool, Isak refusing to train so he can go to Liverpool, and being told to pony up £50m for Yoane Wissa or fuck off

This is why we can’t sell Isak.  The money would be useless. We don’t know what we are doing in the market.

£50m [emoji38] Hope we take the same approach with Isak to be fair.

Makes sense.

They’ve lost their manager, captain and top scorer.  Lose Wissa and they suddenly look candidates for the drop.  That’s worth how much?

Wissa’s worth £50m to them.

Leicester under Rodgers may fit into that category tbh, though they didn’t get Champions League football.

Wasting a week on this non starter is the thing we've done poorly, not necessarily targeting Wissa in the first place as he's pretty good. Do we even bother to check how easy a deal is before wading in 20 mil under value? It's cack.
