edit: I was responding to comments about the club stopping the player being called up.  I said that they couldn’t do anything about that - and they can’t.  The player has a made a decision not to go - that was always available to him.

Having a completely different style of striker to what we have had in a while is going to be great too. Yes, he makes runs past the last defender but he's also one of those throwback strikers who has really great box instincts and will attack loose balls in the box. Love that about him.

Apparently the good doctor could still have called him up and prevented him from playing for Newcastle regardless of his showing up but they decided not to be a dick and respect the players wishes it sounds like.

Yes, they could have.  Which still means that the club couldn’t have done anything about it if they did - so, again, it’s not up to NUFC.

Feels like this alleviates a bit of the time he missing via injury now as we had all assumed (had the injury not happened) we would have lost him for AFCON and 7 games or so. Big win for us.

 Personally, I'm not arsed on the reason. We now have our number 9 coming back for the rest of the season. Fantastic news! 

No idea how Nick and him will play in the same team, though. But that's why I'm typing on a forum and not in the dugout  I'm sure some of you lot will have some good theories. Interested to hear some.

Big Wolf has to start, he's so creative and would gift wrap many opportunities for Wissa whilst banging in some himself. We also need to get in another half decent striker (in the £20‐40 million bracket) ASAP to add competition for places and back up, because let's be honest, big Willy is not that player and needs to move on. As for the AFCON, it's basically the FA Trophy of international competitions.
