Howe trying to mend the broken bridge now he realises Gordon, Osula and Woltemade are off in the summer and we're stuck with this rodent upfront.

It's gonna be some laugh when Fenerbache offer us 55m for him on deadline day but we can't afford to let him go

That's when we sign Solanke to replace Wissa for £75 million. Andy Howe does it again!

I mean, one way to build a bridge with the player would be to actually give him some meaningful minutes.  But over the last few months, he's generally been thrown on when we're either chasing a game, or the games already gone, for around 15mins at most.

Not making excuses for Wissa, if his attitude is questionable in training/behind the scenes (no evidence of this, other than EH not using him), but its always going to be difficult to make much of an impact in those circumstances, never mind with the added pressure when your supposedly the main centre forward at the club.

Hope him and Wolte get more opportunity to the end of the season.

As part of a trading strategy that insiders describe as “fluid”, Newcastle would consider offers but The i Paper understands that one Premier League club who would be interested rate him around the £15m to £20m mark. Wissa will be 30 shortly after next season kicks off, and his age is a big part of the reason his valuation has depreciated steeply, while an injury-hit campaign has seen him drop to become Eddie Howe’s fourth-choice strike

Pound for pound will surely end up worst transfer of our modern history.

I’m not a fan of “I told you so” discourse but this was probably one of the most predictable outcomes from a transfer that I’ve seen for us in years

I enjoy the reverse jinxing. When he scores a hattrick tomorrow, however, you must promise to eat your sombrero.

No point selling at a significant loss from a SCR/FFP perspective, far more sensible to send him out on loan so we don’t have to start making up the shortfall.

I thought you'd come back with, that's if he hasn't already eaten it first. Remember, I set them up, you tap them in.

You can’t count on me, Abacus

Best case scenario is for us to ship him out on loan to some half decent teams across the continent who have more money than sense and hope one is brain dead enough to give us at least something for him.

Well in retrospect, my build up play was far too over complicated. I'd only used the word sombrero because it's a commonly understood term for a hat and I'd already used the word hat within hattrick, so felt it wouldn't scan as well.

Yeah, so anyway, back on topic. I just don't know know how long it takes to recover fully from an MCL tear. I know Eddie reckons he's fully fit, but I don't know if that also means he's operating at peak.

With an ACL it's a longer term recovery to get back to your peak even if you are technically fit. And with an Achilles tendon injury I read from a former footballer that you don't quite for a long time. The Ekitike thread makes me feel ill thinking about the recovery needed.

I don't know if there's something else going on with him, but he looks like nothing like what we thought we were signing. Overall, it does look a huge mistake, but I don't know if I'm judging him too soon purely for what he's done on the pitch based on his limited minutes.

Selling Wissa for 20m is as bad as buying him for 55m.

Buying at absolute peak and selling at the bottom is a ridiculous strategy. Unless he is an absolute dud we must be able to get something from him next season.

Just the £30m loss then, crikey.

Worth it to get rid - the fact he went on strike should have been enough of a red flag to the club.  Was huge mistake by Eddie.

Especially when we could see the other side at exactly the same time and what it indicated about the character of a player pulling that kind of cunt move.

Loan and sale on next years books if I understand this accounting stuff right. He’s been absolutely gash and fuck him, isn’t good enough / worth it given his age to give a second chance too.

Depending how much we sell this summer it might make sense to take the loss now to get him off the books. Even if we get his wages off the books by loading him out the loan fee will not cover the amortization.

Let's hope the accountants/management aren't asleep at the wheel (again).

Who is going to pay £14m plus his wages to have him on loan for a year?

Dunno what his salary is but it's reported as being in the £100k a week region at least. If we want to get rid of the useless cunt then we'll also need to find a team willing to give him that. I reckon Saudi would be our best bet. UEFA would only account for his book value so no profit but fuck it, we're not getting over his book value from anyone else anyway.
