Anyone who was involved in bringing him here should be sacked for this alone. £30m loss, unless ksa bail us out. Disgraceful really when we're so tied by psr. This is completely my take on it - this signing alone results in sackings How the fuck can you pay 55m for a guy that’s worth 25-30 max How have you even got to a position after spending 2 years signing no one to buying him for 55m? It’s disgraceful all levels
Aiston
Can't believe he's only played 430 minutes for us in the PL, 717 minutes total. He's been shite in those minutes...still, it's not many.
Mikky
I get a lot of Andres Andersson vibes about him (signed by Daglish?)

midds
Looking more and more like it was a case of "Isak got 23 and wants to go, Wissa got 19 and wants to sign - fuck it, sign him. Job done" without any other further scouting or due diligence. They looked at nothing other than the numbers and rolled the dice and have completely fucked it by the look of things. He's that poor a signing you can't even technically criticise it because he's not even good enough in training to get into a team that's currently a fucking shambles

Surely you buy a player under 25 with potential upside either in potential or resale How can it not compute with people at the club that he’s 29, worth below 30m and has no resale value - and yet 55m is spunked on him

I think they looked at who could replace the goals we were going to lose in Isak, went for Wissa, paid way over the odds but were happy with the profit and bought, what they considered, to be an insurance policy in Woltemade to top up the goals and were probably more than happy to break even on the deal. No idea how close I am to the truth there but that's how it's stacking up to me personally - Wissa/Woltemade were their Moneyball/recreating the aggregate signings

He’s 29 - got 12 months of his contract to run (albeit with an option to extend for 1 year) You couldn’t have bought Kofane? Kroupi? Was Wissa the only striker out there? No, but you can get the next Wissa ( ) by scouting properly and paying for younger talents from abroad. Probably for less than £30m too.

No idea how close I am to the truth there but that's how it's stacking up to me personally - Wissa/Woltemade were their Moneyball/recreating the aggregate signings The logic is alarmingly simple honest. They viewed Wilson has guaranteed premier league goals (hence why he had his own little training regime) and this for them it was of paramount importance we replaced that with (klaxon please) premier league proven goals. So our Wilson replacement shortlist looked like (wissa (older and cheaper) and strand Larsen (younger and more expensive). That is it, that is the logic which was at play. If you take a step back, the fault of the ownership isn't actually being slow replacing Eales (who would just sign off on payment) or Mitchell ( How anyone can blame Mitchell for this is beyond me) it is on enabling this absolutely silly behaviour which is what they did by sanction such stupidity. I do get it, they are basically asset managers and an expert told them Wissa was a sure thing. As I said when we signed him, he could only ever be considered a good signing if he guarantees champions league. He hasn't but he's proven to be worst than anyone's more dire prediction. LFEE
It’s hard to argue against all the negative comments in this thread. Was always baffled why we bid against ourselves instead of holding firm at £25m. However that aside I do feel for the club he suffered such a bad knee injury before getting to play for us. At best a calculated panic buy. At worst one of the worst signings the club has made unless we are able to shift him on this summer. Like Nic (and Gordon) let’s hope he has another great World Cup. The club happily let him swan off to go and run round some pudding of a pitch in Mozambique or wherever despite him having barely trained in months, it should never have been allowed to happen. Out of the club’s control and not how you’d start a long term player/club/country relationship.
