Woke up to texts from a few of the usual sources saying we’re pushing really hard to get this agreed in the next 72 hours. They want him in for the weekend.

(All usual caveats apply… I’m just passing on some info from decent sources)

EDIT: seems like Craig Hope has had similar information…

Great news.

We're going to need someone that knows the league that's ready to go for the start of the season.

Even if Isak stays don't think we can afford to play him early on, not until he sobers up.

With him not playing yesterday ands a few days for realisation to settle for Brentford I’d come in, offer a bit more say £35m so they can look like they’ve saved face and get it done personally

Any scenario in which we're selling Isak to Liverpool is a catastrophic situation like, sorry. I cannot stand this mentality that if we get Sesko and Wissa we've somehow succeeded or saved face. It's a shocking indictment on the club and PiF for me.

I loathe the idea of rewarding Liverpool and Isaks nonsense. I would not sell to them for any price.

This is one area where we have control.

Not if we make ourselves a stronger squad as a result, for me. That is, of course, easier said than done if you struggle to bag goals though.

I think we need to get Wissa and Sesko and keep Isak for a year. That sends the right messaging to all and sundry. I'd just go and nail that Scalvini(?) transfer too and worry about FFP next season.

Selling Isak (who appears hell bent and desperate to join Liverpool and never play for us again) and replacing him (and Wilson) with a proven PL goalscorer and one of Europe’s most in demand young players would be a “shocking indictment”?

Come on man.

(Unless of course you’re only pissed off that’s it’s Liverpool specifically? I am too… but it appears to be the only club he is pushing for)

This is the issue isn’t it. Šeško, Wissa and funds/PSR headroom to get a top midfielder and centre back are all fine by me.

just galling if it’s to Liverpool. Still hoping for a Saudi mega big for Vinicius (real won’t give him the salary he wants) and Real coming in for Isak as his replacement.

Personally think if we have the level of ambition PIF claim we have, then we stand strong on Isak and sell him abroad next season, even if it's less than the 150m quoted. Would be a disaster selling to Liverpool who are our long term rivals.

If we get Šeško and Wissa, I want Isak gone. It would leave a bad smell lingering about the club and we need to get a first choice CB and a CM in at least too. I wouldn’t be lowering the asking price though.

Our ability to sign players probably makes it moot anyway, but even if we strengthen our squad we still weaken the club.

Every player and agent will know that players can kick up a fuss and we'll fold.

Every club will know they can unsettle our players and we'll fold.

Everyone will know that we're so weak that not only will we sell you one of our best players, not only will we do it AFTER you've signed our #1 replacement for that player, but we'll scurry around trying to make the deal work for you when we desperately need that time and resource to sign other players.

I can't describe it any other way than this - at the moment we're Reek from Game of Thrones. Come on in Liverpool! Take what we have, take what we want, and have us still be your slave.

Someone else said it the other day -Want to be a big club? Act like one.

This is how I look at it, getting Sesko and Wissa is more depth than we had last season albeit won't be as prolific or offer as much as Isak, however Isak was fucking knackered and offering nothing towards end of season.

If we got those 2, 150m for Isak and that allowed us to strengthen midfield and defence it may not be a bad thing and would give us a better squad to get through the season with. No good having world class striker if teams can still cut through us or if we are over reliant on one players goals. We need a strong balanced team and squad and to dominate teams consistently, plus Wissa is proven in premier league and had a good record last season. Better support for Tonali and Bruno would keep the quality up there and we need a top centre half.

Ideally we would also have more fullback cover but Burn, Livramento, Kraft and Hall with Murphy as an option is probably about right.

If I was being greedy a attacking midfielder that can link our play a bit better would be good.

Also want players that want to be here so fuck Isak if he wants out, just rinse the Scouse cunts and move past it. We have to be bigger than 1 stroppy player and we need to lift the whole squad quality to keep at top levels. Hopefully Isak goes to Liverpool and just flops. I think Liverpool are making a mistake of don't strengthen their defence anyway and think Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea will be main contenders for title.

It's specifically because it's a Premier League club. I'd be the same if it was Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

See my other post, it would absolutely be a shocking indictment yes. We're doing what small weak clubs do and telling everyone we can be pushed around, will put things in place to be pushed around, and that this is how you can treat us.

The likes of Spurs, Man United, Man City and Liverpool themselves wouldn't dream of allowing this to happen where they sell their best player to a domestic rival.

Our mentality as supporters needs to change like.

Liverpool aren’t our rivals, nor are they likely to be any time soon

Isak defo can be reintegrated into the club. I would actually send Osula out on loan where he would be a first teamer, then Isak Sesko and Wissa is probably one of the best striker options in the PL. Next year he leaves with our blessing after a Suarez like season to Barca to replace Lewa.

I may be in the minority here, but I don’t really want us to go for Wissa unless we absolutely have to, which I would qualify as the Sesko deal falling through and/or a >150m bid coming in for Isak. To me Wissa is an insurance policy, a last resort kind of deal. Plan A should be to keep Isak for another year AND sign his successor this summer to bed him in for said year, if at all possible while also strengthening CM and CB. That may be mortgaging our future on an Isak sale in June, but it’s the sort of gamble that if it pays off sets us up for a really good season and another strong position for next summer.
