League Cup 3rd Round Draw - Bradford City (H)

Recommended Posts

The most important cup draw for us this week

Quote

The Round Three draw consists of 32 Clubs – 23 winners from Round Two along with the nine Premier League Clubs competing in UEFA competitions.

The UEFA Conference League, a competition Crystal Palace FC will be participating in should they qualify, is due to begin in October and therefore has no scheduling impact on the Carabao Cup Round Three draw.

For the main draw, two separate bowls will be utilised – one consisting of the eight UCL and UEL Clubs, and one consisting of the remaining 24 Clubs.

As the balls will be split across two pots, a pre-draw will be required first to determine whether each of the eight UCL/UEL teams will be playing home or away.

This will be drawn live on Sky Sports during the build-up to Grimsby Town’s Round Two tie against Manchester United.

For the main draw, the first eight-ties will be drawn by alternating between one Club from Bowl 1 and one Club from Bowl 2, with the Home/Away positioning of the UCL/UEL team already pre-determined in the earlier draw.

Once the first eight ties featuring the UCL/UEL teams have been drawn, the remaining eight ties will then be drawn from Bowl 2 only.

From this round of the competition, the draw is no longer regionalised into northern and southern sections.

Palace away feels inevitable to me seeing as they're bumped out of the European pot

I was going to comment on them being in the Conference League but it seems that because there's no schedule clash they don't get the benefit of a clash free draw like Europa and CL teams, you learn something new every day

Any others got the feeling of been there done that? With all the extra games from CL I wouldn't mind us dropping out the first round.

In theory we could always just use the reserves/u21s, but we know Eddie doesn't approach games like that.

They could have a schedule clash if they were to get to the QFs as they are played the same week as the Conference League final league stage games. Chelsea would have had the same issue last year had we not put them to bed

Is it not the pre-draw before the game and the main draw after the game? Not very clear mind

Think it would be a big statement if we retained it

Very much so. Aside from that we have 2 realistic chances of winning a trophy this season. League Cup and FA Cup. Why would we throw one of them away?

We've finally broken our hoodoo. Need to kick on noe by winning something again shortly after.

Well because we have a very intensive playing style that will fast drain the players energy when playing twice a week for a whole season.
