Cronky
I'm only going by the highlights, but he didn't look all that confident in that No9 position. It's being widely said that he prefers a more withdrawn forward role, so maybe there's something in that. He didn't seem to do that well with his heading opportunities, but that's something that can be improved with coaching.

I'm pretty sure one of his coaches/managers might have worked out he could be an aerial threat and worked on his headers with him. Like Crouch we may just have to accept he's never going to be that good at headers.

The German attacking set-up was very static and predicable, there were five of them in a straight line across the Slovakian box on a number of occasions. Don’t know what they were trying to do, but evidently part of the tactical set-up. Big Nick will benefit, and no doubt revel in, the fluidity and speed of our attack/possession play. Couple of half chances he could have done better with. But good movement, great touch, very quick thinker re spotting and executing lay-offs and passes in build-up. HawK
Vast majority have been quite sensible tbh, bit of tongue in cheek sarcasm I think in context. For me he's one of the most exciting signings we've made in a very long time - can't wait to see him in black and white.

I’m not judging him on a bad night for a dodgy germany team. I won’t decide whether he should be sold until I’ve seen the first ten minutes of the Wolves match (if he doesn’t start I’ll judge him on how he looks on the bench sat next to trippier). Novocastrian
Only watched the first half and quickly realised it would be difficult to judge him in that very poor Germany set up. The dummy was inventive and showed his awareness and quick thinking. He brought a ball down very neatly showing a deft first touch. Sprayed a ball out wide to a winger (can imagine Elanga running onto those). Was a bit sluggish off the mark to capitalise on a Wirtz through ball. Totally fluffed the first half header. The worst Germany team I can remember seeing. He’ll get a lot more of the ball with us.
andycap
He's new to the senior team aswell as far as starting a match, looked like they'd never played football with him before the way they never fizzed it into his feet or used his strengths to there benefit. it was just wirtz misplacing passes and wingbacks struggling to put a decent ball in. Harry 209
It's amazing to think that our current side has Germany's first choice striker, the main men in midfield for Brazil and Italy, and two England current first choice defenders in it. Best case scenario this season could also see England's first choice left winger and Holland's first choice centre half added to that. Maybe even another Brazil midfielder, and England's left back. Not to mention a handful of other players who could have a major impact at the World Cup (Wissa, Elanga). Incredible really, considering where we've come from recently.
