Ronson333
The Bayern icon called for German football to resist the lure of foreign money, demanding the Bundesliga forge its own path, adding: “This can't end well. We must show strength and not take the money of the Arabs, the American hedge funds. The DFL must ensure that the Bundesliga clubs never have to accept this money." Bayern’s failure to land key transfer targets this summer is a direct reflection of this divide. Newcastle, backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, splashed a huge amount with bonuses to secure Woltemade, leaving Bayern empty-handed. For German football, the danger is not just losing star players abroad, but also being priced out of the market entirely, an imbalance Hoeness insists “can’t end well.” https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bayern-munich-chief-rages-completely-crazy-transfer-fees-summer-window-warning-european-football/blte44e1abc08c75914#csb9e5edabaaf72b13

Ronson333
This where the bitterness comes from: “I think he’s [Woltemade] a very, very good player who would fit in well with us,” Hoeneß said. “If not, then [we’ll get him] next year.” https://www.getfootballnewsgermany.com/2025/uli-hoenes-says-bayern-munich-will-land-nick-woltemade-next-year-if-necessary/

madras
I think its going to take time, which won't be helped by limited time with games not being weekend to weekend. He's not a straight Isak replacement on the pitch but will bring other things which will need us to evolve into a different side to what we have been. Eddie's capable and he'll have a plan. We'll need to be patient with him and the team.

Jewel
The money didn't flow from Saudi. It came from Liverpool when we sold them Isak. Perhaps he should be having a go at them and not Saudi.

But the money flowed from Saudi Arabia to liverpool via the nunez sale, the to us via Isak sale. Really liverpool is just a chance for them to wash their funds before they get to us. Kid Icarus
I wonder if we'll eventually see football's version of mergers like we see in everything else. It would be in a post-PSR hellscape, but basically a landscape where football is dominated by a few clubs that are so dominant that US owners abandon their clubs and all join forces to co-own one of them.
