Ikon
Really lovely player and a humble guy to say the least. Difficult to not love him.

He's a striker, and that's all he ever has been throughout his career so far. He's just very unaggressive, slow and clumsy, at least he is at the moment. Goes without saying that he and everyone else needs him out of the team ASAP.
Yorkie
Still hurting, WM? He didn't play in the next game, anyway. Nice gotcha though. He was fucking shocking against Sunderland and not much better against Leverkusen. It was hardly a ridiculous comment at the time.
Whitley mag
He won us the penalty against Leverkusen and basically started the next PL game against Chelsea. Thank goodness he did as well. Keep the faith Yorkie, less of these rash takes please. 😉 Edited December 21, 2025 by Whitley mag
HMSIllustrious
In general I think this should differentiate us from other fanbases. On Redcafe for example, after every defeat, they want to sell all players bar Bruno, let‘s be more level-headed than them.

If that's aimed at me then I would respond to say the last thing I want (or have said!) is that I want to sell him. I'll gladly defend any player on the club's books, and I like Woltemade. Just felt incredibly frustrated by his powderpuff/self-destructive performances against Leverkusen/the mackems, and do feel a somewhat unconvinced he'll ever be the one for us in the long run. But not writing him off to any degree.

It was more about the general phenomenon that people forget that these guys are young men and not machines and always expect them to be flawless. TheBrownBottle
I’m still convinced that he is a centre forward, but it’s all about playing to his strengths. Gordon and Murphy both had good games, and fed him well. The quality he has is obvious - I just want to see more performances from the wingers like we saw vs Chelsea
Lotus
Maybe watching Wissa’s movement and (hopefully) success in the box during games will inspire him to try to emulate it. Doesn’t need blistering pace in and around the 6 yard box just better anticipation.
Elliottman
Amazed anyone is doubting this lad. Has all the attributes to be an absolutely fantastic player for us. He's going to show inconsistencies this season, of course he is. He's a 23 year old kid in his first year in the most aggressive league in Europe. Who has been hoyed in every single game since he signed. We could see on Saturday how the mid week break benefited him, looked a lot sharper. 7 in 14 as it stands I think? Could easily have been in double figures too. No doubts about him at all, give him service he'll do the rest.

Wissa first has to emulate Wolte and score seven goals in the Premier League. So far, Wissa is still a great prospect for me. You're all pushing him like he's the Messiah. His goal was due to a huge goalkeeping error. I won't celebrate Wissa until he's delivered that.

Wissa's been delivering in a team of less quality in the PL for 2 years as a striker and is a proven goalscorer and finisher, Wolte is the player with potential. Wissa we bought as the finished article.

Hanshithispantz
Wissa's goal was down to him gambling where the ball was going to land. He scored loads of goals last year which look like lucky tap ins but it's down to him anticipating where the ball will land and being athletic enough to get into those areas ahead of the defence. It might only come off 1 in every 10 times (number pulled out of my arse) but over the course of a season those kinds of goals will stack up. A static striker or a one who just follows the ball will rarely be in the right place for a tap in. I agree Woltemade's strike rate and box presence is massively underrated like, especially given his lack of top flight experience. A few great saves and defensive blocks have stopped him notching a couple more too. He's never going to be as athletic as Wissa but his strength and reach can hopefully make up for that. Zero
I do think it’s unfair to criticise Nicks movement in the box when we didn’t see that much yet from Wissa as our no.9, not as Brentford’s no.9. Look at Elanga.
Coffee_Johnny
After feeling doubly please at his brace, just remembered that I swapped him out of my fantasy team for Wissa. You're welcome Nick/everyone.

No need to be overly critical of Wissa. We know you love Nick to pieces, but this is not Woltemade United, we support all our players as long as they wear the kit. Wissa has returned from injury and needs to get sharp again, so of course he‘s not moving mountains yet.
jackyboy
I remember years ago with Dwight Gayle. A high ball was lifted from way out towards the goalkeeper (might have been Green) Gayle chased after the flight of the ball which was dropping into the goalkeepers arms. But Gayle anticipated that the keeper might fumble what looked like an easy catch. But he did fumble it and Gayle was there to take advantage and rolled the ball into the net. That was anticipation and it's something you can't really teach
